lets just say you for some reason had a say in when it happened. say as soon as you say yes events are put in motion that cant be stopped.

the Father asks you, hey, should today be the day?

what would you say?

i think i would say no, not yet but that's just me.

no created being could make that call, only He knows the appointed time. and it is not contingent upon what man does or doesn't do.

every one knows that (or should) i just was wondering what people thought if they had the choice. had the question asked to me and i said, no, i would not want Him to come now.

It looks like your life lost the right perspective, when you dont want the glory and the kingdom of God to come "now".

Lol Im indecisive on things that don't really matter. If its important I take the time to make a decision. Its a question that would tear me up. I have so many gone on that Ive recently had vivid dreams of seeing again. Much of my family has lost the battle of cancer. But on the other hand I have unsaved family and I have hope that they might change their mind before its too late. So therefore its a question I could not answer and am glad I dont have to.

I was gonna ask why " no" until i read this and it reflects Gods Heart.

2 peter 3 :8-13 "But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.10But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.11Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, 12Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? 13Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness."

On one Hand with all my heart i wish He would come today and reveal Himself to all, on the other hand, there are so many who that day will mean everlasting torment , many of my family and so many more in the world. But the day will come and Gods time will be perfect whether today or a thousand years, which to me is why we are here to spread the gospel of salvation while we are given the opportunity.

interesting question, ive never heard that before

and I would agree with you. The lord is slack, not willing that any should perish.

we all would rather be home, But we have a job to do here on earth.

I think you dont get it.

God knows who is in the book of life, who is elected. He waits for those to be saved.

When Christ will return, it will be in the time when everybody who is elected came to faith. Nothing to wait will remain.
In other case He would not return ever till somebody new is born to this world.

Thats why your dilemma (His coming vs people going to hell) is false.

actually you just made our point for us.

We would not say yes, come today, Because we need God to come in HIS TIME< Not ours. God knows (as youjust said) when that will be.

Of course He will come in His time. The question is do you want it to be soon or not? Its about your personal preference, not about changing God's plan.

The prayer "Let your kingdom come" will not change His appointed time but it is our prayer and wish for it to be soon.

If we think in the way "not now, I have something in this world to finish, my Lord", something is wrong with our perspective.

P.S. Maybe Our Father will change His appointed time. God saw our prayers before appointing anything, before He created the universe, right? But its a different topic.

[h=1]Matthew 28:16-20King James Version (KJV)[/h]16 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them.
17 And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted.
18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.

thats what we are talking about not now, we need to finish. its actually selfish to want the coming sooner that the Fathers will, and selfless in this case to want it past it.
