Self righteousness does that to folks. I blame it on him being taught about Santa when he was a child.

It takes more than that. You need good works because what Jesus did on the Cross apparently wasn't good enough for our salvation. I know, go yell at some 1st graders and tell them their parents hate them for teaching about Santa.

The older you get the less you need. I just love that I get to spend christmas with my little boy. If I want something I just go buy it for myself.

I don't get anything, nor have I in a long time haha.
I dislike getting presents. Usually I go volunteer at the soup kitchen on holidays, excluding Xmas because I like to spend it with my siblings

What if you don't know you lied or forget? The point is that people should get off their high horse about santa. Not a big deal on the whole scheme of things. Next we're gonna start hearing about how Santa is so close to the spelling of Satan.
Lying is a premeditative action. I'm curious to hear how a person "accidentally" lies. If someone asked you what you ate for lunch and you said a hotdog... only to remember an hour later that you had a hotdog yesterday and a hamburger today, you didn't "lie"... You were mistaken, unless you knew you ate a hamburger and deliberately said "hotdog".
I don't know why you are rationalizing parents lying (not pretending and make believe) to their children... This is exactly why there are people who claim to be active homosexual and Christian... They rationalize their love for someone of the same sex by saying that love comes from God... who cares that God is adamantly opposed to it...?
