Question 8 ? What do the circumstances of Jesus' birth teach us about God and how he works?
That God overlooks social status and class. The whole shepherds with their flocks part of the story is a reminder that He disregards what (and who) we think is important. God loves all humanity. He is not swayed by our own sense of importance. This is why Jesus entered the world silently in a stable (enter quietly stage left)

Same thing Balaamb's donkey teaches us. God will use what God wants to use. Also, value is relative and highly subjective.

Also, if God uses you that doesn't mean you're better than anybody else. God could have used the dog next door instead.
That sure reminds me of an old song about Baalam ( So when the Lord starts using you, don't you pay it any mind. He could've used the dog next door if he'd been so inclined.) Do you know every Christian song I've listened to?

I confess that Don Fransisco song did float through my head when I typed that post. It's in my collection. I thought about rephrasing it to avoid plagiarism, but decided to let it stand.

Though if I ever sang it I'd rewrite it to "So if the Lord starts using you, don't let it go to your head, He could have used the dog next door instead." It phrases better in the song structure.

This is also a good point, and one we should ever keep in mind. Some of the things we think are of crucial importance are things God doesn't really deem important. That's (yet another reason) why prayer is important, to keep our perspective synced with what really matters.

Ok it's a busy week so here's the last questions:

What does it mean that Christ is called Everlasting Father?

What are you waiting for/ hoping for in life right now?

How does Christ's coming affect your life?

What does it mean that Christ is called the Prince of Peace?

What does it mean that Christ is called Everlasting Father?

Christ is God. A God who can sustain and deliver. A God who was there way way before the beginning of time and who will be there long after the world - as we know it - has passed.

What are you waiting for/ hoping for in life right now?

Clarity. I've reached a couple of crossroads at the end of 2016 and I desperately need God to direct my steps in 2017. There are few things as liberating as a clear sense of direction.

How does Christ's coming affect your life?

Well can I tell you when he returns? just kidding...I am not sure if you are referring to the Advent we are all about to celebrate or His second coming. His 1st coming: "Hope" took on the form of a person and came and changed everything. I can look forward to so much in this life and the next because of His coming. His 2nd coming: Watch this space.

What does it mean that Christ is called the Prince of Peace?

John 14:27 his peace goes far beyond what we hope for in this world. His peace is real even when everything around us in crumbling or in disarray. His peace is eternal.
