This reminds me of when I was a kid. We planned a BBQ for Easter Sunday and we were having a large egg hunt with family, friends, and neighbors. I was really excited until I woke up and they told me I had to get ready for church before we started partying. I thought to myself "why can't we have a break! I mean it's Easter for crying out loud! Why do we have to go to boring church?" But I was Catholic back then. That explains most of it. :p

I think it's nice to have church on Sunday for Christmas. A lot of people don't have family and I bet it's good for them to attend service and spend time with their spiritual family.

Although, I don't have a set church right now (mine closed down.) But I don't feel like I'm leaving Christ out of it. We worship at home, read the Christmas story together as a family, and have a cake for Jesus and sing Happy Birthday. It's pretty neat!

Side note: I do go to church, but I'm still looking for a home church. I might attend my brother's this Sunday.

I can't believe y'all suggesting a 'shortened service' or an 'am/pm service' on Jesus's birthday.... I would personally attend church for the entire day with my family. If I had my own family.

Nothing comes before Christ.

when I was a kid/teen my Grandparents' church always had the most beautiful Christmas Eve service...in the dark, just candles, lots of them. We all lit them in ceremony, it was wonderful.

We had a candlelight service last Sunday night, with a large number of people singing and the ministers reading scripture in between songs. I sang "Tell me the story again" by Chris Rice. Beautiful song, beautiful service.

Hand_Of_God, please go back to this thread's OP and read the last paragraph.
