Two things can be counted on in the BDF's...

1 Scripture will be repeated, well, repeatedly, and if those who don't get it don't get it with 10 people quoting it, they won't get it with an 11th repeating the same. A different angle must be taken. This angle was, ok let's assume cessationism and 70 ad are true, what does that mean for scripture? It means a whole lot of it DOES NOT APPLY.

2 People get too uptight and abrasive with each other over these subjects. Someone has to throw in a little levity once in a while (even if sarcasm is the source of that levity!). Sadly tho, levity doesn't work on some either. But hey I tried!

Okay silly me, I thought this was for real. So I looked it up on the i-net and couldn't find it. The sad thing is that it's so possible to see a bible like that.

The fact that some thought it was real - you weren't the only one - sends shivers down my spine!

I agree. I don't think that no matter what people post - those of us that already have our minds made up concerning a subject - we are likely to change it by others just posting scriptures. The Holy Spirit is the only One that can reveal the truths of the Lord to us.

What does happen is that by posting scriptures and truth - then others that are not participating in the discussion can benefit from this.

Once it starts to being others insulting them. trying to be-little them, trying to "lord it over other's faith" and calling them names because they believe differently - then no matter even if they are right in their interpretation - their behavior will negate the receiving of the truth.

Now, when I see that sort of behavior - I refuse to interact with them anymore as it causes nothing but strife and division amongst us.

Whenever people tell me that a certain scripture doesn't apply to them, I say ok then rip that page out. Then after a year, take a look at all them missing pages and consider just how much of God's word you think doesn't apply.

The Modern Redacted Version would just give them all that, up front!

People, the point is:

Every scripture you file under "does not apply" is a little piece of God you are denying yourself. And Him for that matter.

It ALL applies. To ALL of us. ALL the time!

ALL we gotta do is figger out how, not if.

Jesus' crucifixion and resurrection applies, like all of scripture, to every generation and every person.

Thank the Lord for that!

It's only when scripture ceases to apply to certain generations that it becomes hole-y

i can't sleep because of this post, and would like to offer an explanation and apology.

that's what my daughter says to me when i'm behaving in a certain way, and it helps me so much because i know she loves me and she says it in a partially jesting way with her sweet smile. she's telling me have a 'baditude' to help me!

but Rick has no reason to trust my love for him, as i do my daughter's for me. for that, and for the comment, i ask forgiveness.

it truly was meant to be helpful, and i ought to have seen that without the backstory, it would be taken in a different light.

I perceived it simply as a light-hearted joke-upon-the-joke type of thing -- a "tease" for Rick. Somehow, I am thinking that he was not at all offended. He, and everyone else, probably thought it to merely be "your twist" on his joke -- and, it was a good one! After all, you effortlessly 'upstaged' dcontroversal with ease... ( hehehe )

You would have done well to "keep silent", yet you "came forward" to "confess your faults"...
