you'd be closer to say "the goal of medicine.." but that's not even true. medicine is fatalistic in the end-game - medical science tries to prolong life and to increase the quality of living it, but knows very well that the physical body degenerates.
very, very few people have "physical immortality" as a goal, and very few of those are doing what anyone would call "science"
