lol. We had a guy from Wyoming come out and hunt with us. He thought the whole thing was pretty weird

I once went to a gaming arena, where there was a shooting corner with air guns. There were 10 consecutive glass bottles in a horizontal line placed equidistant apart that one would have to shoot with 10 pellets.
You could buy more if you had to, but if you shot all 10 bottles with 10 pellets, there was a small monetary prize offered.
I remember shooting all 10 with the 10 pellets and getting the prize.
I realized for the entire time that I was shooting, everyone had stopped playing and had stood to watch me. Also there were a few guys lounging and playing pool nearby. One of the guys just had their jaw open. (they may have tried the shooting deal)
That was kind of unnerving and funny.
I used to have a lot of fun playing paintball and trying my hand at archery. I want to try one of those shooting ranges in the USA, where people use actual armed rifles. I am sure it's not the same as an air gun but I would like to see if I would be good at it.

The fundamentals are similar. Sight alignment, trigger control, etc. The real hurdle for most people is the simultaneous sound and jerk of the gun.
The .22 is an overall solid round to start out with, because the kick is negligible. If you really want to prove yourself the first time out, step up to 9mm for pistol and 5.56 for rifle. Most people don't try anything beyond those on day 1 though.
