G-d works all the time, some I know and myself on occasion are awakened by G-d to spend time with Him, to read a scripture, perhaps read some here and make a post or two. Jesus said He must work all the time because His Father works all the time.
Dreams can be from the the wrong side, His own and from our own mind, mine from my own mind tend to be grandiose, winning lottery, having great power and authority, etc.
Ask for dreams, He freely gives, really, He freely gives!
Always go back to the Giver of dreams for the explanation of the dreams, that is in Daniel as well.
If we don't believe the Giver of Life, who keeps our heart beating every second or so, can give us dreams just as in the Bible, we have missed what He is telling us in His Word.

that can happen at times, it can be hard to comprehend all that is written in scripture, but if one day you feel a need to seek to know more, IMO i do believe the knowledge is there...

John 21:25
Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.

That is one of the favorite verses the Catholics use as well as other cults used to sell their oral traditions of men making the scripture without effect, as far as the final authority, as it is written.

If we would look at the context, it was right after Peter was reinstated after denying Christ three times. Christ had just signified the kind of death he would experience and said; follow me.

Peter out of jealousy asked what about John? Getting his eyes off Jesus Peter said; which one betrays you?

It was common when they did not understand... “Who is the greatest” would come up.

Christ in effect told Peter to mind his own business of following Him. Peter than started an oral tradition that John would not die. Yet Jesus said not unto him, He shall not die; but, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee?

The there are many other things that Jesus did were in respect to exposing the lie of the oral traditions. It was not an opening or a blank check to add to what He has revealed through His word by an oral tradition of men. We simply are not o go above that which is written

But before the bible was written, people didn't have His word. How did they know the
truth. :)

Many have forgotten that God is active today in all area's of life rather people are awake or asleep, as too of days of old before anything was ever written...

Do you have eyes but fail to see, and ears but fail to hear? And don't you remember? John

I agree....

I think we need to be careful that we don't replace Christ Himself in us and leading us by His Spirit - that we don't replace the living Christ in us with our "interpretation" of scriptures. Scriptures are NOT God. They are written for us and the Holy spirit uses them to reveal Christ to us.

We can "search the scriptures" all our life and never come to "know Christ Himself".

John 5:39-40 (NASB)
[SUP]39 [/SUP]"You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is these that testify about Me;

[SUP]40 [/SUP] and you are unwilling to come to Me so that you may have life.

Thank God for the scriptures that speak and lead us to Christ Himself as He Himself is our life. Any dream or vision that is contrary to the life of Christ Himself is not from God.

Just a note, the original post was not about a dream, it was about a vision. I had been asleep and I woke up and knew exactly where I was physically, laying on my back on the bed. I was temporarily in what I believe to be the spirit realm and could see the book and hand with part of an arm in front of my face. I was in this state one other time that I can remember where the Lord talked to me and He told me that it was the spirit realm. By the way, I have had a few dreams from God, not many, just a few. May relate them later. We have to be careful here that we do not get carried away and begin to believe that every dream is from God, dangerous.

Thank you brother, and we see those who stop at scripture and fail to grow into relationship, just as we see those who know about Him without knowing Him personally.
He knocks on the door of all our hearts.

I agree, and IMO some people don't even know a single verse of the bible and have met him for the first time in their life and have learned something, without ever knowing anything of spiritual knowledge.

I would say through a direct revelation. For instance we know He spoke to Abel as the means of showing His grace. But it was not until 1/3 of human history that passed before God moved Moses to write it down. He could of spoke to many in that way. He has revealed all that is necessary for us to have the faith of Christ in the same we he applied it to Abel.

There are many things he did that were not written down but it does not make the fact that today we are not to go above that which is written, as His witness to us. The witness of men is not the same as His witness to us. He does not accept honor from men as the witness of man .

He encountered John Wimber without John having any foundation of faith in his family for 4 generations.
His personal testimony is a great thing to see, also some of the videos made not too long before He went home
and how G-d continued to call to Him and guide Him.

Jesus turned and said to Peter, "Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns."

Is His revelation not complete though? Is there more outside of His word that we need to know? I have a hard enough time with what is written. I guess people that have perfected that which has been written need more...
No offense, but you need to get over this false teaching that every spiritual act done by somebody is supposed to be put in the canon. This is false teaching, & there's no place in scripture that says so.

As a matter of fact, It was John that said if all the works of Jesus were written down, the books of the world could not contain them..... which means other things said by the Lord isn't written, either.

But hey, don't feel bad, for years I've had to "put off" a lot of teachings I learned that wasn't biblical too.:)

Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding,

The problem with mentioning dreams and visions, is that many people start to
jump on the band wagon and assume you are referring to new revelation.
Then they start citing Jospeh Smith.

I just wanted to clarify that at no point have I ever said that God shows me new
revelations, a new faith or anything which contradicts the bible. See my previous
post above, the rather longish one.

Having dreams and visions is Gods way of giving warnings, giving understanding.
Showing answers to prayer, confirming things etc.

As an an example I was always really confused about the Holy Spirit. Then I had
a dream in which I was reading a book as I opened it I saw three pages. On each page
was the head and shoulders of a person. Under each picture was a description of each
person and I realised I was seeing God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
I woke up and couldn't remember the picture or what I had read, but from that point on
I knew the Holy Spirit was a person. That wasn't a new revelation. That was God teaching
me something I didn't not know before.

When a person reads the bible they discover new truths, it can be tb same with
dreams and visions.

Unfortunately this is another way in which dreams and visions are brought into
disrepute, by automatically assuming people are referring to new unbiblical
revelations and so therefore they must be false. It just shows unfortunately how
much this gift is misunderstood.

Just a thought but maybe if I had your dream I would have prayed for the
people and/or shared the gospel. Having said that it took me a long time to
realise what to do with warnings in dreams and/or that some dreams are
given for us to pray about others. I agree though of the need to be careful
with dreams.

My own interpretation of my vision was that the Lord in His kindness was preparing me for the tragic events, even though I could not remember with part of my mind I am sure that in my spirit I knew the names and dates...so I was kind of prepared for what was going to happen before it happened.

I agree not all dreams are a message from God, some dreams are just the mind rehashing the day or past days..

You mentioned in a post,"before it was written", that same voice that talked to people while awake or asleep has Not changed one bit. God still does those same things today, anybody who doubts that in my book has little faith...

Without the word to turn to, you have no absolute truth to trust. How can you be sure what you are dreaming is from God?

2 Corinthians 11:14-15
14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

Me, I'll stick with the word of God. Sweet dreams.:)

You sound just like the Pharisees,,, it is not written who is this man who performs such miracles who calls himself the Son of God for it is not written... Time and time again I see the same thing over and over again... if it's not written dont believe in it...

Is His Revelation complete?....Has the Father Sent Jesus back here yet, as in the "2nd coming"?.....Uhhh?...no....so, no, His Revelation is not complete! But neither is "man's" interpretation of THAT which He has revealed to us in (watch it now...here it comes...lol) in the CANONIZED "collection" of recovered "texts" (for lack of a better way to define them! Enoch and Jasher, being merely 2 glaring examples! ).

Which brings me to your 2nd question....Because, Jesus told us to "Not let ANY man decieve you", And BECAUSE there are so many "men" saying so many different interpretaions over the same teachings (example...The Holy Bible is The INERANT Word of God, meaning that there are NO other writings by ANYONE, ANYWHERE, at ANY TIME, where the WORD of God can be found, or had (the "rapture "theory", is another interpretive/teaching), that, yes John146, There is not outside His WORD, MORE that we need to know, but there IS more WORD outside this supposed Inerant "CANONIZED" assmemblage of writings that we call the Holy Bible! (you are very "tricky", in the way/s you "word" your question/s). Which is probably "a" reason you have difficulties in understanding that which has been "canonized". And, is more then likely the cause/s of your arrogant condescention regarding your last statement.

This/these are the reason/s I use for looking elsewheres asides this "Inerrant" Word of God....NOT for the "perfecting" of What God reveals to us via those 66 (blessed be that wise "council of men"...yeah...right!...lol) included books! But, rather, the perfecting of those "men" who teach from the "vanity of their hearts"! In other words....the perfecting of man's interpretive teaching/s!! NOT God's, NOR, His Son's, NOR His Promised Holy Spirit!
