There was one day this week that it hasn't rained in Philly. Yesterday. (Wednesday.) And by rain, I don't mean umbrella time. I mean I had to pull the backyard heavy-duty umbrella off the plants during the storm after it fell over and broke our picnic table in half, because the storm was still coming in.

Wednesday is our usual day to shop, but we had plans to go to a museum to see the Jurassic Park dinosaurs instead, meaning we had to go shopping today.

Not good enough. Hubby had insomnia Tuesday night, plus the President and PM Mae (the UK's PM) is in town for a retreat (meaning road closures, rush-hour traffic doesn't wait for rush hour, extra cars parked all around here, and it's already iffy whether we can get a parking spot near our house, so no one moves their cars on days like that.) No museum, might as well shop, right?

Well, I didn't know when hubby would wake up, and grocery shopping is our biggest joy of the week (simple life lol), so I waited for him, until it was too late to shop. That means I HAD to go shopping today. Oh, and it was supposed to rain again today. I thought I heard hubby tell me "PM rain." So, my plan...

Go to bed early, go shopping early, pray for parking spot when I got home EARLY.

Me and patience? I just don't get along with patience. Always making me wait and ruining perfectly simple plans.

So, I go to bed early, and then come back down an hour later, after running down the list of things we're out of to God. (Maybe if he gets how low we are on everyday basics, he'll change his mind. It can happen, right?)

Back to bed at 3:30, before sleep actually comes. Up at 10:30. So much for early. I show God the shopping list by now, because... you know? That's got to work. I don't even have my usual banana for breakfast.

My stomach grumbles and I have to go to the bathroom. Might as well get dressed. After I'm dressed and finished eating the last of the cereal (no bananas, no cereal. No bagels. What's left?), it's noon. (Hey! Do not notice how much time I spent on this site this morning.)

I'm ready... except I have to go to the bathroom again.

A plunger was involved. I hate plunging toilets. Hatehatehate! (Blasted patience turning on me again.)

So, I'm finally ready to go at 1:15. That afternoon rain? I misheard hubby. It's a morning rain. It stopped at 1 PM. I'm rushing out the door, begging God to make everything turn out right in traffic, and in the store, because once I'm in this mood one little thing goes wrong and I'm all KABOOM!!!

Oh, did I mention our store is under construction? Yeah, after a mere two CENTURIES (honestly) Philadelphia is finally allowed to sell beer and wine in the stores. (Good thing, since they just started taxing any drink with sweetener in it -- BTW, that counts almond milk and flavored water -- 1.5 cents an OUNCE. So no one is buying anything in the soda aisle now.)

I'm now in the store and this old woman is in front of me, blocking the corner, right where I have to get around her to get to the onions. No Plan B there. The onions are where the onions are, so I wait. And a younger women squishes by the old women to get to right where I parked my cart. I back up. The younger woman rushes by the old lady again, and I think I'm good to go. Nope, old lady needs something on the other side of the aisle. I chuckle.

She goes back to her cart, and is checking out, thoroughly, the produce she wanted. I politely excuse myself. she laughs and says, "I really need eyes on the side of my head."

I answer, "Yeah. We never got those eyes in the back of our head either." We chuckle.

Instead of me running across her "in my way" the entire time I was in the store, I kept noticing how often I was in her way. (Three times. She must have great taste in groceries. lol)

So, anywho, no anger. Just amusement. No traffic problems. and then the biggie I ask God for every week -- a parking spot close enough to home to bring groceries in. Not just "my last spot." The best spot on the whole block. (Corner. Makes it easy to get out. lol)

Not only did this grocery trip work exactly as he planned, (versus how I planned), but any earlier and I would have gotten wet, or would have had to go to the bathroom when there wasn't one around. Any later, and there's no parking spots. Had I gone yesterday, I wouldn't have known hubby knew a few other things we were out of.

I'm thanking God and he says, "Thank you for your patience."

(He's amused with me. lol)

Your days sound as good as mine. Except there are few days here when it doesn't rain at this time
of the year. :p

So for your amusement, here is my little tale.

Monday I went to post office, on way back I got a call from the tele care people saying my aunt
had fallen. I was almost home and ran rest of way praying.
I got home to find she had fallen on her knees and was on all fours on the living room floor.
It seems the man came to read the metre and knocked at the door, despite me repeatedly
telling her to ignore the door when I'm not in. She tried to get to the door and fell.

Ambulance came - 3 paramedics but they didn't have any lifting equipment. They can't pull
her up with her arms as one shoulder was fractured last year and the other shoulder was dislocated
in 2013 both due the previous falls. So they had to call a second ambulance crew with lifting
equipment so another 2 people came - 5 paramedics all in our little living room!

The lifting gear is an inflatable cushion. They slide it under people and pump it up so they end up
in a sitting position. But...err none of them could get it working! Anyway after lots of fiddling around
and a good 45 later, they managed to get my aunt off the floor. (all the while i was loosing
patience!)

Praise God it worked out and she did not need to go to hospital.

Tuesday. Got up and got ready to go to work, then went downstairs to wake up my aunt who
sleeps downstairs. Oh no, she can hardly walk and couldn't get her slippers on. Both knees
were swollen and her toes were swollen and bruised where she had been kneeling on them.
More patence needed! I rang work asked for two days off annual leave. She could hardly walk
and needed help going to the toilet so I could not just leave her. As the Carer's don't stay
all day. But phew work was fine with me having time off.

Tuesday night, wanted to sleep but nope, had to get up to help my aunt.

Wednesday, she was less swollen thankfully, but still needed more help than normal.

Wednesday night - sleep my kingdom for a good nights sleep!

Thursday - community matron came, told aunt off for not using her oxygen or walking frame
(I've been telling her the same). Found she had water infection. So after, I dashed to chemist
to pick up antibiotics, only to be told the pharmacy had gone to lunch (it was 1.30pm) so they
could not dispense the antibiotics. Me feeling impatient who goes to lunch at 1.30pm!

I was just about to go when the pharmacy returned. Thank God. I'm too tired to
have to go home then come back again later. Got antibiotics went home. Managed to persuade
aunt to use the oxygen. Phew she was getting very confused and calling me by her sons name.
I mean do I look like a man!

So... lots of impatient moments. Lots of melt down point. Just glad God is patient with me. :)

(Do not tell Miri when I eat lunch.) The 1:30 lunch time is standard in businesses where people are apt to stop off during their lunchtime, so I got used to it decades ago. lol

I know that gizmo/airbag. By the time John was becoming aware again, that's one of the first things he got all excited about. (Think what it looks like to move a 260 pound man without one, and you get why he got excited. lol) Unfortunately, by that time, I was quite used to it. But everyone seemed able to use it. I figured that much less work on their backs got them that interested in learning how it works. (Can't say the same thing with lifts though.)

But please tell me your aunt wasn't stuck on all fours the entire time. She did lie down, when waiting, right? (Memories of John being in that predicament in two different ways.)

And... have you noticed? Tell "them" something they know, and it goes in one ear and out the other. Have medical people scold them, and that works for a while. For some reason, family just doesn't count, even when we're parroting the same thing the doctor said weeks or months ago.

Do you hear God snickering while he hands over Patience Lessons? Or, is that just me?

she was on all fours when I arrived, I tried to get her to lie down but she refused in case she fell.
First ambulance people managed to get her in a sitting position on the floor but saw was on
all 4s a good 30 mins. Then later they got her up completely.

Yeah its right family are just nags, medical staff are qualified to give advice but not family,
even if it's the same advice (lots of patience needed there)

So what made you interested in dinosaurs, is it their age :p

de-ocd-ing can be a.....:eek:it starts about, whenever Jesus says it does, and believe me,
it's a chore and a challenge, but He does help in so many ways...Bless His Preciousness!!!

I am constantly amazed at myself, for I am more than willing, and Hubby is more that pleased,
cause he get so much more peace from my growth...Praise Jesus our Saviour for caring so much
about us, even for the things that we would never think He would THINK OF! but we are so, so happy
that He does...:):)
