Did someone say...Beowulf? :)
"What were we War-Danes in our yore-days?
Tribal-Kings! Truly cast that glory past,
how the counts had courage vast!
Oft Scyld Scefing shed Eotens'
many sons of mead-seats often.
Awesome Earl; since erst a whelp
fund-shorn found, was offered help.
Waxed under welkin, won worth-prestige
until all areas we edged with were beseiged
over the whale-road, wide wealth did they bring:
gave up their gold. That was a good king!"

Sounds like some of the stuff on the "no t" thread. :)
I read it in high school, MANY moons ago. I meant to ask you, is Tinuviel from LOTR?

Or my favourite Beowulf lines: (I don't remember where the lines are broken)

Much love, much hate must he endure,
Who think to live long in these days of strife.

Tinuviel is indeed mentioned in LOTR, though she is technically from The Silmarillion :)

I am ashamed to admit that I have not yet read The Silmarillion like so many other books I need to read.

Let us hope that your life will major on the love and minor on the hate in these days of strife. Though, I don't know how anyone could hate you- you are so sweet. :) I am going to start a book club thread, if you are interested. I know people have obligations and other things they are reading. I thought it might be nice if a little or big (the more the merrier) group of people might like to read the same book together and talk about our impressions as we go along. No pressure if you've not got the time. :)

The Silmarillion was good...but it was nothing like The Lord of the Rings :) (though I love them both). A book club sounds lovely. Unfortunately, I likely won't be joining the book club because I'll be leaving/significantly cutting back very shortly to make more time for school work. I hope you get a good group though, sounds like a truckload of fun!

(D'waaa . I don't know about being sweet, but thank you!)

Oh, that is TOO bad. I will miss you immensely. I think you are a lovely girl, and you give me great hope for the future. :) I mean this, truly. School work is important, though. I am obligated to say this- being a teacher, Lol. I wish you well in your course work.

I'll miss you too! I'll miss all the discussions we've had :). Yep, I always listen to teachers, and very recently one told me that schoolwork is important so...;)
