I have a question, what if someone from one of the banned countries,
went to another country and gained citizenship. Syrian refugees to Germany for
example and then they migrated to the US? Would they be classified as a Syrian
immigrant or a German Immigrant?

I suppose we will have to wait and see on that one, I thought people had to jump
through hoops anyway already to get a green card?

What happened to holding an individual responsible......If I go into a church and do God awlful things isn't it I that have done them and not my family. I was asking because while Trump may wish to ban people from 7 countries, it would be
impractical to ban people from every country, especially the oil/gas producing countries.
I don't suppose he will ever ban them even if they were 100% for Isis. Lol

Unless the US builds an entire wall around the entire country and bans all people from
entering and leaving, then it's unlikely all terrorist attacks could be prevented.
Even if it did that, there will always still be loonies within the country itself. (Every
country has its loonies!).

I don't disagree with vetting people throughly at all, but one person cannot say I don't want
you in my adopted country, when they have already been granted legal access rights and have
done nothing wrong.

One person can't just stomp their feet and make all the laws by themselves - they became a
law unto themselves and that is far too much power for one person to have. Instead of a democracy
you end up with a dictatorship. I hope for the sake of the American people that the US doesn't become a
dictatorship. I doubt it will but Trump seems to relish the idea of that.

and we adopted something along the lines of the Australian model, but the way Trump is
charging in with little thought or consideration of the impact, is suggestive of a person with
narcissistic tendencies.

On a more positive note for the rest of us, Trump's clamp down could potentially open up great
business opportunities for the rest of the world! Companies will think twice about moving to the
US if there could potentially be problems moving staff and executives in and out of the country.

Google has already expressed concerns and Trump has also threatened other companies
about outsourcing their production lines. Boeing. Toyota. General Motors.

How is isolating wannabe immigrants on an island more humane than preventing them to come over in the first place ? If Trump had given notice (say a month or so) of his intent, would it be unrealistic to think that many undesirables would have tried to "beat his deadline" for entry ? I think they would have. No matter how this issue was approached, fault would be found somewhere. Trump's sending a message ... a strong one. Those already properly screened won't have an issue ... except for a few month delay before returning to status quo for them. The undesirables and ill-intentioned already in the U.S. now know that new recruits won't be joining them anytime soon. It's a tough stance. But so are the consequences of not doing anything.

Turkey
Afghanistan

And others! You Americans should be happy that someone is finally dealing with terrorism in the Middle East. I sure wish Canada was!

May I safely assume all the students in Canada's universities aren't Canadian? Y'all do what we all do -- accept students from around the world? And, sure, those students have to be vetted first. Imagine being one of those wealthy students coming back from winter break for second semester and not being able to because the doors were closed in Canada.

Isn't part of the reason countries accept students from around the world, so the students get a sampling of our culture? We just put out a noticed:

As a Republican living in a city of Democrats, I really don't like the message. I do get there are dangerous people in those countries. (And why isn't Syria, Iraq, Iran, and Pakistan on that list, for crying out loud?) Not all of them! And we vetted the ones we're kicking out now! They were the not-dangerous ones already.
