For those of us who no longer believe in god. I'm curious why god does not do more to convince skeptics that he does exist. A lot of us are comfortable with the idea of a god but after going to church we just cannot believe that god is real. I guess we could just say we do, but that doesn't seem right either.

When you say us do you put yourself in that category of those who do not believe in God?

God has no role in proving Himself because He doesn't need to.

Do we explain to the mosquito why we destroy it?

Or mold why we dump bleach on it?

The Lord shows you the path to happiness. Isn't that enough?

Yeah God HAS given us ample evidence of his existence. Its not to say that we still dont have more questions but the questions themselves ought to be framed and grounded in a worldview which presupposes there are answers and if there answers then there must be objective TRUTH.

****that is a wonderful question----same thing I said 40 years ago----Like Ricky said to Lucy: "You got a lot of splaining to do"----the way I have found it to work----God usually doesn't reveal Himself to skeptics----if you get hungry for the truth----you will find it----I know that sounds simplistic or trite---I believe God is just waiting for you to say---Hey God---are you out there...

Jesus said, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they
will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’

I am under the distinct impression that God knows what He is doing :)
I am also of the opinion that His timing is impeccable :D

There is also the matter of Romans chapter one...

18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made,so that people are without excuse.

21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles.

24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts ...

You're in the wrong church. Do a little more shopping.

Romans 1:20-25
For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures.
Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them. For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

Psalm 19:1-2
The heavens are telling of the glory of God;
And their expanse is declaring the work of His hands.
Day to day pours forth speech,
And night to night reveals knowledge.

God gave everyone the knowledge of Himself. There is an inner witness in your soul and the creation itself shouts to mankind that there's a God.

The unbeliever who denies that there's a God is denying what they really do know deep within their hearts. But because they want to live without God and go there own way, and take their own path in life which is rebellion against God and His ways.

I'm really sorry you no longer believe in God. What exactly turned you away from Him?

I have to say this is a wild forum. I never expected some of the replies that I have been given. I would assume the strawman comments are saying I have no brain? I asked an honest question, maybe this is not the forum for these types of questions?

I don't think your question was so much of a strawman as it was possibly some kind of logical fallacy, for if you do not believe in God, why ask why did God or why does God not... do anything? Because a person who does not believe in God can also neither believe that such a non existent Being does anything...

Some people may say they were born a Christian but that is impossible, since we are born after the fashion of Adam, spiritually estranged from God, and in need of being born again via the Holy Spirit of God that we may be reconciled to Him through the righteous blood of His only begotten Son. Are you seeking? You may ask, why seek that which you do not believe to exist? That is something you need to decide for yourself. Great are the witnesses throughout history who attest to the existence of an all powerful, loving, just, and merciful God, Who created the universe and all there is, and gave life to man. If it seems an important enough endeavor on your part to discover the truth or falsity of those beliefs, you will set yourself to the task, for surely determining the meaning and purpose of your life is intrinsically tied up in whether or not there is a Creator, and if there is, what His purpose is. He desires a personal relationship with you.

Why? Have you gotten some confused idea that He needs you? Nope, it's the other way around. Ain't a thing you have for Him.

Magenta I see what your saying. And from the comments I have read it seems like its not gods job to prove anything.

This is a odd comment. Seems like god would appreciate the good I do for the community.
