There's this TV show where people try to hide from law enforcement agents. (Possibly bounty hunters, but I'm really not into these types of shows, so don't watch.)

It seems to me, the best plan is to go to a place totally unconnected to your life, and lay low. I have watched enough shows to know that if I had to start a new life without anyone ever finding me, I would head to Montana. Why Montana? Because so few people live there that the vast majority of Americans would have it as one of the last five states they'd remember, when trying to list all 50 states. It's just not a place that comes to mind quickly. And, not a single person I know has ever lived there or known anyone who lives there. It's also 2000 miles away from where I live now.

On that note, considering where you live now, and who your family and friends are, but also considering you only have but so much money to keep yourself in hiding, where would you go? Actual geographic question. What place would you hide so no one would find you? And how far away is it from you?

I would do well on this show, I think. I have no real life friends. I am not close with any of my family except my Dad. I have no social media accounts and my digital footprint is extremely small. I think I could disappear like a fart in the wind. As for where I would go...nunya.

.

I think maybe i'd be a trapper - build me some little log cabins in the great white north and set some trap lines.

Then show up at the trading post once a year with the pelts (oops politically incorrect! - alert PETA!...) and stock up on coffee, bacon and maybe some hooch for the next season.

The question would be; bring a laptop or some Jack London books...?)

Id probably go to maybe Tibet because lots of people have done exactly that and it worked for them ,during wars(there were many pick one) deserters and refugees lost them selves in those mountains, I really enjoy reading war books and have read about people doing that like "7 yrs in Tibet" that was cool also I think that that is where Shangra-La is so I'd probably dedicate my life to finding that.

You don't want to go to Montana the whole region(Montana,Wyoming,S. Dakota etc. is full of satanic cultists just this year something like 75000 Montana residents signed a petition to remove a state supreme judge from the bench because he convicted a guy for statutory rape after he had sex with his 12 yr old daughter ,not only the 75000 but the whole family pleaded with the judge for a not guilty ruling.

All the guy got was like 30 days in jail and 1 yr probation or something similar and everyone STILL wanted him off the bench so it was the principal of being able to have sex with underage kids that are your children that they were fighting for.

Like you said hardly anyone lives there so that was probably half the population or something.

Also one of the first "Unsolved Mysteries" episodes was about a group of people in Wyoming wearing black robes and masks blocking a highway so nobody could get through ,I don't believe in coincidence, that whole region is satanic cult.

Sooo, you're keeping your options open? I can think of two other places to hide, but picked Montana just because it was the first one I considered. You can always pick one that would work, but just not some place you'd ever go.

As for farts in the wind? Ha! Mine stick around even in a tornado. lol

(I'm so ladylike. lol)

I don't recognize your flag to know which "great white north" you'd head for. And, sounds like you've been planning this for a while, so wouldn't "they" be able to figure out that's where you'd go?

I also don't recommend London for reading choices. I read White Fang a couple of years ago in my safe and quiet bedroom, and had to force myself to NOT hide under the covers anyway. I can't imagine being in the Alaskan woods in a snowstorm and actually hearing the wolves while reading that! It's scarier than Alien!

And, heads up -- skunk pelts don't sell for much. lol

You on the run, ma'am? Don't come to Texas, it's so flat the police can be watching you from three counties away.

How are you getting to Tibet without being seen on a passenger list?

And as far as looneys go? I already live in Philly. We're known for that serial murder who started Earth Day, an abortionists doctor who froze the babies in his freezer, and the headquarters for MOVE. How different would it be really?

The only reason I'd run to Texas is to become a roadie for ZZ Top. No-conceal states make me a bit too tense. I've already personally live through concealed.

You wouldn't be comfortable in Alaska then because everybody carries although not usually outside it's considered bad taste as accidents happen and with guns those accidents can be fatal.

It's encouraged if you are trained because in the Southeast Grizzly's can go walking down main street anyday that they aren't hibernating and in South Central there are usually killings by moose on a somewhat regular basis its the same with Polars waay up north.

Oh so that's what I stumbled on when flipping channels a few nights ago. I was wondering what that was lol. It seemed a little too fake to me though..

That's where I would go if I wanted to disappear.

Alaska. Go off grid. Trap and hunt and fish.

I've actually considered it a few times. But kids, family and work have always kept me firmly on the grid.

PS. 36:7.
How excellent is Thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust
under the shadow of Thy wings.

91:4.
He shall cover thee with His feathers, and under His wings shalt thou trust:
His Truth shall be thy Shield and Buckler.

Actually, you'd probably disappear more quickly in a heavily populated area, if you could go cash only, and live somewhere where the utilities, etc, were not in your name.

Showing up in a sparsely populated area would make you stand out to everyone else around, so if the feds come looking, everyone would remember you...

Yeah, but I live in Philly and wear overalls, so I kind of stick out anyway. At least people in Montana don't think you look that funny in overalls. lol

Has anyone else noticed we're all headed towards COLD?

Are we nuts, or what? lol

Now we all know where you would go, so you will all get found!

I would just get a burka and rent a house a few streets away. :p

Someone I know once talked about going off grid in Canada... I can't say that the idea sounded appealing to me. I'm not going to going into detail about the visual image that immediately popped into my mind, buy I'm just going to say that I would definitely try to find somewhere further south to hide. I'm thinking maybe my first choice would be the haiwassee mountains, where I have some distant relatives down in north Georgia.

What little info people know about me, they know I have lived in Wyoming, California, and Iowa. To disappear effectively, I would have to avoid those three areas. I'd also avoid any area too similar to those areas because they would be likely candidates for searching. To disappear, I would need to go someplace unlike any areas I am familiar with, then I would need to ascertain the "norm" of that area and try to blend in somewhat. Odd how if someone is trying too hard to remain hidden they actually end up sticking out. The trick is to blend in so well that people can acknowledge your existence if they see you, but you are very easily forgotten.

If I had to go on the lamb.. I'd start living my life as a woman and change my name to Charice...
