Not really.........because in your other thread you spoke of folks who go to a church to see what the church can do for them. S
ocial Climbers would certainly fit into this category, Albeit, in a negative way, but they are still choosing a church they believe will benefit them personally. So, they really are two parts of the same thing..........

Now, about social climbers, while my Home Church does not have such a problem, it truly does exist, and I know this for a fact, because I know some of the social climbers, and the churches they attend.
In my experience, social climbers (here) attend one of two churches............the First Baptist Church of (fill in name of City), or the Church of Christ (usually the largest and most wealthy one in the City).
Social climbers go to these Churches because that is where the Power Players go. Politicians, Police Administrators, Businessmen, Bankers, etc., and the wealthy Citizens in the community. The go there to interface and to try and increase their identity within the City/Community and for the purpose of self enrichment. These Churches usually have the largest congregations as well.........some in the thousands........and you would not believe their Complexes! Hundreds of acres, dozens of buildings, Schools, Colleges, Day Care, Libraries........and Sanctuaries that would rival Notre Dame!
Truly the wrong reason to go to church, but is IS a fact, there is no denying that. I thank God my Home Church has no such problems/people............'course, our congregation is just under 50 folks, and I suspect anyone making more than $10.00 an hour would be the wealthiest member...........
What we are RICH in, is the Holy Spirit!
