I had a three day weekend this weekend for President's Day. Painted another mural and white-washed my fireplace and painted stuff on it. I am exhausted. But I like projects because they have an end, and I'm proud of them. Sometimes at work it's just day-in-day-out same-old-same-old stuff. I like projects and painting because I can look at what I accomplished.
Dear smoker who dumped your ash tray out in the parking lot:
I know it was wet outside today. And I understand when it's wet outside you really don't want to walk all the way to the trash can that is right at the edge of the parking lot where you can park right in front of it. When I was sweeping up the trash in the parking lot, in the rain, I didn't really mind sweeping up your pile of cigarette butts. I didn't even mind that the rain had made them all soggy and they had melted into the pavement, requiring a lot more effort to sweep up.
What bothers me is I have friends who are smokers. And my friends are not careless, thoughtless slobs. They take care of their mess. They never flick cigarette butts all over the place for other people to clean up after them. But because of people like you, when people see my friends smoke they automatically think "Smoker, leaves trash all over the place, slob." You are giving my friends a bad reputation.
For this, I wish you transmission failure on the freeway during rush hour traffic.

My dog accidentally hurt me tonight. Not terrible. I was playing a game with her and she got a little rambunctious and her teeth dragged across my stomach for a quick second. Got a pretty purple/red mark in a line. Looks fairly wicked. I actually took a picture so if anyone ever asks if I have a security system at home, I can show them and say, "Yeah, my dog. She did this to me without even meaning to, imagine if she meant to bite someone." 
She is as gentle as a dandelion but she's quite protective of me. She's got a pretty ferocious bark, too, when she wants. I feel safe with her I go on hikes alone and she's awesome. If there aren't people around, I'll let her off leash. She'll go a bit ahead, then stop and turn and look at me and wait for me to catch up before going further. Sometimes she'll trot back and check on me.
It was pretty rough when I first got her. She was 6 months old and I had never had my own dog/puppy before. I almost thought about giving her back. But the second day I had her, something just clicked and we've been inseparable ever since (2.5 years now)
