Is it a gag reflects thing? I ask, because hubby was unable to swallow food for quite some time after being stuck on a ventilator for a few months. He got help through a speech therapist. And she taught him exercises to do to get his "swallower" to work better. (Ends up a swallower is just the back of the tongue, but it is a very special muscle in the tongue that can atrophy.)
Also, I'm beginning (at the very beginning of "beginning") to have issues with swallowing myself, but that's caused by my goiter is beginning to squish my esophagus. (I'm going to have them shrink my goiter this summer.)
What I'm trying to say is there are things the health field can do to help you resolve this problem.

Take comfort in God’s mercy, and remember the words of the apostle James: “The prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up...” (James 5:15).
