We all know this story of the old testiment. How God flooded the world, and the only people saved where two of each species of animals and Noah and his family.
After doing a little research, i discovered somthing disturbing.
We know of the other ancient civilizations of that time. And there have been written records kept and written during that time that the flood was supposed to happen. And none of them mentioned being drowned by water or anything regarding a flood.
By this, people conclude that the flood never happened.

Now, lol, Im not saying that I beleive this but I want to know what you all think.

Oh and please dont get too heated. The threads next door can hear ya you know :)

From what I have seen many ancient cultures record a Great Flood event almost near universally, but each account differs slightly. It seems to me they are remembering a common event but through a glass darkly.

The answer is very simple:

You cant get the age of the Earth (and timing of other events like Flood) by just counting the life spans of genealogies in the massoretic text of Genesis.
These are not complete.

First of all, 7 pairs of clean animals were spared and only 1 pair of the unclean.....

Second...the three sons of Noah were spared and the bible records where they settled. They would have passed the story down thru the generations that followed.

Third...almost every ancient culture has an account of the flood (most have been corrupted) and without a doubt within the ranks of some civilizations the whole story would have been removed from history due to the Satanic attempt to wipe out all vestiges of the truth....

Fourth...up to the 50's or so, most geologists testified of overwhelming global evidence of a deluge that happened at some point in human history...

Fifth....the entire bible stands or falls together....either you believe the whole thing is inspired and valid or it is all poppycock

The JUST shall live by faith....end of story!

Well, for one thing, there were no 'written' records made during those time. Written language did not appear for about 1000 years after the time of Noah. All that would have been written about the flood before the inspired account was given to Moses would have been based on nothing more than oral tradition. This oral tradition would of course have been handed down from the sons of Noah to succeeding generations as men began to spread over the post flood earth.

But the bible does not record a world wide flood, only one that encompassed all mankind.

May your wonder be alleviated. The wives of Shem, Ham, and Japheth are not missed in the Bible.

Genesis 7:7

[SUP]7 [/SUP]And Noah went in, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons' wives with him, into the ark, because of the waters of the flood.

Actually, it does.

From the same chapter:

Genesis 7:18-24

[SUP]18 [/SUP]And the waters prevailed, and were increased greatly upon the earth; and the ark went upon the face of the waters.
[SUP]19 [/SUP]And the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth; and all the high hills, that were under the whole heaven, were covered.
[SUP]20 [/SUP]Fifteen cubits upward did the waters prevail; and the mountains were covered.
[SUP]21 [/SUP]And all flesh died that moved upon the earth, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of beast, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, and every man:
[SUP]22 [/SUP]All in whose nostrils was the breath of life, of all that was in the dry land, died.
[SUP]23 [/SUP]And every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and the creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth: and Noah only remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark.
[SUP]24 [/SUP]And the waters prevailed upon the earth an hundred and fifty days.

Have a look. Creation Ministry's - CMI (creation.com)

DC's Fourth point is correct.

CMI has contributions by repsected Christian Scientists.

At times it is over my head but it's reassuring to know that there are answers from scientists, geologists and alike.

That was Noah's 'earth', not ours. The word also means 'land'. Australia and America were unknown :) Under the whole Heaven meant as far as man could see.

Oh, well not sure if Abel had a wife, the Bible never lists his progeny or his wife. As for Cain and Seth I think it is pretty obvious. Adam had other sons and daughters.

What do you think Peter means here?

2 Peter 3:5-6

[SUP]5 [/SUP]For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
[SUP]6 [/SUP]Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:

he means what he says, the earth that THEN WAS, i.e. was known to man. Peter did not know of Australia and America either :).

actually verse 5 confirms my view. the land standing out of the water and in the water.

Women were not recorded - it wasn't the done thing to record daughters because sons superseded them for inheritance purposes. The men were the leaders and it is Biblical that the male should still be the head of the family - even today.

Leviticus 20:11-21English Standard Version (ESV)

[SUP]11 [/SUP]If a man lies with his father's wife, he has uncovered his father's nakedness; both of them shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them. [SUP]12 [/SUP]If a man lies with his daughter-in-law, both of them shall surely be put to death; they have committed perversion; their blood is upon them. [SUP]13 [/SUP]If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them. [SUP]14 [/SUP]If a man takes a woman and her mother also, it is depravity; he and they shall be burned with fire, that there may be no depravity among you. [SUP]15 [/SUP]If a man lies with an animal, he shall surely be put to death, and you shall kill the animal. [SUP]16 [/SUP]If a woman approaches any animal and lies with it, you shall kill the woman and the animal; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them.

[SUP]17 [/SUP]“If a man takes his sister, a daughter of his father or a daughter of his mother, and sees her nakedness, and she sees his nakedness, it is a disgrace, and they shall be cut off in the sight of the children of their people. He has uncovered his sister's nakedness, and he shall bear his iniquity. [SUP]18 [/SUP]If a man lies with a woman during her menstrual period and uncovers her nakedness, he has made naked her fountain, and she has uncovered the fountain of her blood. Both of them shall be cut off from among their people. [SUP]19 [/SUP]You shall not uncover the nakedness of your mother's sister or of your father's sister, for that is to make naked one's relative; they shall bear their iniquity. [SUP]20 [/SUP]If a man lies with his uncle's wife, he has uncovered his uncle's nakedness; they shall bear their sin; they shall die childless. [SUP]21 [/SUP]If a man takes his brother's wife, it is impurity.[SUP][a][/SUP] He has uncovered his brother's nakedness; they shall be childless.
Footnotes:

so from this scripture it must be believed that god created more eves
