The book and movie deal with theological subject matter I wouldn't toy around with as a writer.

Again, you have gone off half-cocked. I said nothing about any demonic stuff. That was a FB post from a friend I haven't seen in a few years. But, I think you have shown him right in his estimation.
 
For the past two hours I have been watching a series on TBN, called Restoring The Shack. (4 episodes so far) WOW!!!!

It begins again in 45 minutes from now.

If you get to see it tonight...... or any other time, do so. It is that good.

I specifically wrote your 'friends' name in my original post. You are reacting instead of thinking intelligently.

even so, I have looked into this book and movie more and I would not recommend that ANYONE see it

the reviews about this movie are many and while there is general agreement that it covers suffering and and explores those aspects in relation human psyche, it is so far removed from God as He reveals Himself, that many consider it actually dangerous, especially to new Christians

why do't you get over yourself and allow that I disagree with you and others disagree with you

you seem to be a very angry man for some reason

you can defend this book until the oceans dry up, I now recommend that no one sees it and that Christians need to get back on their knees if they think this is any way a good thing

well that's the thing

God, who is Holy and who sent His Son to die for our sins, is represented as from the imagination of human being who cannot abide the truth it seems and so he made up a God that suits him more
 
I really would not have bothered if the reaction I got from asking questions wasn't an untruthful diatribe of what the op thinks of anyone who disagrees with him

here is a write up from CARM regarding why this movie is dangerous as far as any representation of God goes

it is absolute vanity to imagine God can be overwritten by people who seem to have become tired of the way He represents Himself in the Bible

Jesus wasn't kidding when He said deception was going to be the main thing to watch out for

I haven't seen the movie or read the book.Not even on my radar. Reviews are useless,I gave up on them years ago. I think unless you see a movie you really can't comment on it,nor should you. I wouldn't tell anyone not to see a movie if I myself haven't seen it.Lots of people were against the Passion of the Christ.I went and formed my own opinion.I suggest others do the same.

I actually agree with the attempted preemptive shutting down of anyone with a different opinion. That's always a good sign right? Why is it the "most tolerant" here always seem to deal with differing opinions the worst? Claim such tolerance yet do things like this, pointing the first finger before anyone even disagreed. Such blind hypocrisy. As far as the OP, I haven't read the book or seen the movie so I can't really comment, but I can say that God can work through things we can't imagine. As corn as it is, "The Passion" was the first time I ever heard many things about what happen to Jesus, I didn't even know He was betrayed by one of His own guys before I say that. I wasn't truly saved until years later, and I very much agree with you about making up our own God and not getting to know the TRUE and ONLY God because we worship a feeling we have rather that the True God, but He can use these thing to stir hearts, even if they are off. I think so anyway, but fully agree with you about making up our own God and trying to shut down any other opinion before they are even heard, I feel that is a DANGEROUS mentality to have.

Bullying? Good grief, woman, you two had a disagreement, and you griped at him for it, and he griped back, but he's BULLYING?

Why is that, because he's male and you're female? That makes it bullying?

You need to choose your words more carefully, you don't do hyperbole well.

He loves the movie, you don't. Perhaps you should start another thread on how this movie is "dangerous", to avoid disagreements (and "bullying")
