Help picking next tattoo

​Hey!! So I am planning on my next tattoo pretty soon but i'm still having trouble trying to decide what to get. I know I want it to be a bible verse. I'm stuck between these two "We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure." Hebrews 6:19 or "God is within her, she will not fall." Psalm 46:5.
I would love to hear your opinion on which one you like best and about any tattoos you may have or are thinking about getting!!

Between the two I like Hebrews 6:19 better.

But really, I'd go with these, wrapping around each arm:

(left arm) The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom

(right arm) and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

They are from Proverbs 9:10. But that's just me. lol :)
 
They are both so pretty! *heart eyes* I think that the first one would look nice with a tiny picture of an anchor, but if you just want text then I would go for the second one :)
 
Why mark up your body with tattoos? God doesn't like us doing that to our bodies.. I don't get the point of tattoos anyway..

Ouu! I really like the idea of those ones. They may be ones for the future haha

Yeah! I was planning on getting a small simple anchor next to Hebrews 6:19. Ahhh i still cant decide hahaa

You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh on account of the dead or tattoo any marks upon you: I am the LORD. Lev 19:28 RSV

When I was young, I considered getting a tattoo. Then a friend told me a story that changed my mind. I pass it on to you, so you can think in long-term instead of just for today.

She was a nurse's aid at a nursing home tasked with washing bed-bound patients. One of her patients was a WWI vet. (Hey. I'm old, so just take that as he was old back then. lol)

He had a tattoo of a fly on a very intimate part of his body. He said he was a Marine and got drunk one night...

Except, he was then in his 90's so there was severe wrinkling and shrinkage. It didn't look like a fly.

So, moral of the story: Whatever you decide, remember the body changes. What becomes of that tattoo when the body changes?

I don't think tattooing is sin. I just think people don't think out it's permanence and we change over the course of our lives. (Between gaining/losing weight and wrinkling, tattoos truly change in their significance. lol)
 
Well I will throw in my two cents. I don't believe a getting a tattoo a sin . What we have to watch out for is why are youn getting the tattoo. If you with a clear conscience believe it is not a form of idolatry ,or not a distraction to your Christian walk . You are good to go . If you have any doubts then I would say no to getting one . I would take those doubts as a nudge from the
Holy Spirit .

my aunt, now almost 90, got a tat on her back, the top of the shoulder blade.
it's a little crown, to remind her Who's King. she had it placed there for the very reasons Lynn suggested...
she felt it might still look like a crown when she was 90.... and it does.
 
I have thought of getting a tattoo at times, maybe a red rose.
But that with age, wrinkling, sagging etc by the time I got
to 80, it could end up looking like a red nipple! :o

i still toss around the idea of getting "belonging to YHWH" written on my hand in Hebrew, which is the literal translation of what's written here --

This one will say, ‘I am the LORD’s,’ another will call on the name of Jacob, and another will write on his hand, ‘The LORD’s,’ and name himself by the name of Israel.”
(Isaiah 44:5) ​
 
neither one of us has ever desired to have a tattoo - somehow, to me, they
always seemed 'un-clean', even when I was much younger...

I do know that not partaking of this worldly, often addictive activity is an
obvious separator...

unfortunately, I had my ears pierced by a friend of my brothers when I
was a teenager, so happy that those old days/desires are a thing
of our past...
