The dead are with Christ when He returns, so yes they are "raised" from where ever they are before the rapture , that would not be holes in the ground because to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.

samuel23, do you know the difference between the spirit/soul vs. the body?

When it is time for the gathering of the church, the Lord will descend from heaven, bringing with him the spirits/souls of those who have died in Him and their bodies will be resurrected from the dust of the earth with their spirits/souls being reunited with those resurrected bodies. Immediately after that, those believers in Christ who are still living, will be transformed into those immortal and glorified bodies and will be caught up with them to meet the Lord in the air. Therefore, yes, when the resurrection takes place, it will be of the "bodies" who have died in Christ that will rise from the dust of the earth.

Come on Popeye you have to be much smarter than that. Ecclesiastes 12:7 I know you must have read it. Please I'm not here to try and impress anyone on how smart I am. We all have our opinion's on scripture and how it reads. I just try to share mine.

Hi AH, No where in the bible is that scenario presented where spirits return with Christ and long dead bodies come up out of the dirt and they are united in the air..no place. This is a man made idea in an attempt to explain how the dead in Christ could be with the Lord and also be resurrected. Paul said that what goes into the ground DOES NOT COME OUT OF THE GROUND. So once these flesh bodies go into the ground then they are GONE never to be brought back. This is a difficult scripture to reconcile...with the Lord yet resurrected. I believe that the dead in Christ are some place with God and at the time of the rapture they will be called forth(resurrected) to go with Christ to gather the living saints.

Hi AH, No where in the bible is that scenario presented where spirits return with Christ and long dead bodies come up out of the dirt and they are united in the air..no place.

Wow! You seriously need to study the word of God. All of those topics you just mentioned are most surely supported by scripture. Every time you respond to my posts saying "this or that is impossible" it turns out to be possible. Or when you say "it's no where found in scripture" it is in deed found in scripture.

First of all, do you understand that Jesus rose bodily? When he was crucified, his spirit left his body and his body remained in the tomb for 3 days. On the morning of the 3rd day he rose in the same body that he was crucified in. This is demonstrated by the following:

1) When the women went to the tomb they did not find Jesus' body and that because he had already risen in it. They were looking for his body, but the angels told them that he had risen, just as he had told them he would.

2) when he appeared to his disciples behind locked doors, the were terrified thinking that they were seeing a spirit. Jesus then comforts them and says "look at my hands and my feet (nail marks), a spirit doesn't have flesh and bone as you see I have."

Jesus is the first fruits of those whose bodies rise from the dead. So also will all believers who have died in Christ rise again bodily.

You worry me samuel23, for the Lord's promise is that all believers will rise in an immortal and glorified body. If you don't believe that the dead in Christ are going to rise from the graves, what do you think of the following:

"Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice and come out—those who have done what is good will rise to live, and those who have done what is evil will rise to be condemned. - John 5:28

" Many of those whose bodies lie dead and buried will rise up, some to everlasting life and some to shame and everlasting disgrace"[/quote] - Dan.12:2

The word "anastasis" translated "resurrection" is defined as referring to the body standing up again. Below is the definition of the word anastasis:

386 anástasis (from 303 /aná, "up, again" and 2476 /hístēmi, "to stand") – literally, "stand up" (or "stand again"), referring to physical resurrection (of the body).

Christ's physical resurrection is the foundation of Christianity, which also guarantees the future resurrection of all believers (see Jn 6:39,40,44).

[386 /anástasis ("resurrection") refers to the physical, bodily resurrection of Christ – and people (both of the redeemed and the unredeemed).]

Understand this samuel23, believing in the bodily resurrection is paramount to your salvation. Anyone who does not believe that Jesus rose bodily is not saved. Now, regarding the destination of the spirits of those who die in Christ, please see the following:

"For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain. But if I go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. So what shall I choose? I do not know. I am torn between the two. I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better indeed"

"Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. For we live by faith, not by sight. We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord."

When the believer in Christ dies, their spirits depart from the body and go immediately to be in the presence of the Lord, while their body is buried in the earth. When the Lord appears to gather the church, he will bring with him those spirits that will have died and went to be in his presence in heaven and they will be reunited with their resurrected bodies.

Regarding Jesus bringing back with him the spirits who will have died in him:

"For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with him the believers who have died.

If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
==============================================
But tell me this—since we preach that Christ rose from the dead, why are some of you saying there will be no resurrection of the dead?

For if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ has not been raised either. And if Christ has not been raised, then all our preaching is useless, and your faith is useless. And we apostles would all be lying about God—for we have said that God raised Christ from the grave. But that can’t be true if there is no resurrection of the dead.

And if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ has not been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, then your faith is useless and you are still guilty of your sins. In that case, all who have died believing in Christ are lost! And if our hope in Christ is only for this life, we are more to be pitied than anyone in the world.

Samuel, Jesus bodily resurrection from the dead is an preview of what is going to take place with every believer who has died in Christ, i.e. the promise of their bodily resurrection.

Before you debate about any other issue on this forum, you need to find out the truth regarding the resurrection of Christ and of all believers. For if you do not believe in the bodily resurrection of Christ and are not looking forward to your own bodily resurrection, you are not saved and are still in your sins.

Until you come to the knowledge of the truth regarding the bodily resurrection, everything else that you debate about here is in vain.

First of all,it doesn't say "dead ". It says dead IN CHRIST. That eliminates the patriarchs, not to mention they resurrected at Jesus' resurrection.

Second, you just answered why "sleep" is used to describe them.
(that way, your conjecture is stretched to an impossible hope of any harmony)

It says " they rise, and we meet them"

You are looking through a postrib prism, thinking the rapture happens with the return on white horses.

THAT IS WHY you are unreceptive to the obvious.

See how your end times view muddies pure doctrine?

Postribs are so zaney.

Just a wild and zaney bunch!

They remind me of "The Three Amigos"

Hit a rare truth here and there ,but are too busy on rabbit trails to know they haphazardly stumbled onto a truth.

LOL

Good day buddyt,

Please see post #66.

When the righteous die, the spirit/soul departs from the body and goes to be in the presence of the Lord - Phil.1:21-24, 2 Cor.5:6-8

When the Lord appears to gather the church, he will bring with him the spirits/souls that have been in his presence and their bodies will be resurrect and their spirit/souls will be reunited with those resurrected bodies:

"Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage one another with these words.

After the resurrection takes place, then those who are still alive, their bodies will just be transformed into those immortal and glorified bodies. At the time of the resurrection, these bodies will be transformed taking on heavenly qualities, never to decay, no longer having the sinful nature and will be raised in power, that is, it will have heavenly abilities. This will take place for both the dead and the living in Christ at the time of the resurrection.

The word "anastasis" translated "resurrection" is defined as ana = up and histemi = to stand, properly "to stand up again bodily." Jesus is our example of what is going to take place for all believers who have died in him. When the Lord died, his spirit departed from his body and his body was in the tomb for 3 days. On the morning of the first day of the week, his spirit reentered his now glorified and immortal body, resurrecting. The word anastasis always has to do with the body standing up again.

Hey Popeye, I read the post of buddyt and your comments, he said absolutely nothing that is not in the bible yet you accuse the man of having a sick and trashy post and you also accuse him of saying that Jesus and Paul are satanically inspired, something he did not do. I think when you signed off as Sick you pretty well described where you are coming from.
Don't forget....HE CAN TELL US RIGHT NOW that it is PRE-TRIB....blah blah blah......

AND......the WRATH IS ANNOUNCED AS BEING HERE AT THE 7TH TRUMP IN HEAVEN BEFORE THE THRONE....THE GREAT TRIB IS THE SEALS, TRUMPS AND THUNDERS....the WRATH IS THE BOWL/VIOLS........sick of that misinformation being spread when the bible states clearly that the WRATH STARTS WITH THE 1ST BOWL OF JUDGMENT
