Young people are so intelligent AND screwed up it is freaking scary.

I just dropped in to a social section of another forum that's not religious,it has many young people due to it's primary topic and answered a question that seemed pretty straight forward and obvious,this was maybe 6 hrs ago and since then over 40 people most I guess under 30 have insulted me with such articulate intelligent rhetoric that I am scared away from that social section for life,they were calling me things that were just so technical that I have no idea what they were saying but im pretty sure that they were insults.

I use to think that your guy's political talk and debates were deep and sometimes brutal but ...I don't know ,I can't even articulate what im thinking.

They are so intelligent due to a search engine being literally at their finger tips 24 hrs a day ,they are scary because their mind set is so twisted and warped due to progress gone waaay too far.

I never knew that they were that far along in ...I don't know what they are far along in but it's something and because they have no moral structure that their intelligence is based on it's almost like they are some kind of monsters for lack of a better word for them,I'm still so shocked that I can't think straight.

I wasn't aware that im as old as I am.

I've encountered little evidence to suggest that younger people, as a demographic, are any smarter...

though they may be more adept at some specific things, like interacting with technology.


Quick Info on America's Youth:

1. More college degrees, which are more and more dumbed-down and meaningless.
Statistically more of them are, or will, be graduating with college degrees...
but with college being continually "dumbed down",
I can't see this really amounts to much of anything at all.


2. They are very poor at many basic skills which are necessary in most work places.
Recent statistics I've seen regarding millennials in the work force...
looks they aren't too adept at anything useful.
They have poor communication skills, poor writing skills, and they can't even tell whether or not they're doing a good job on the job.


3. About 40% need remedial course work when entering college.


4. They score a bit higher on IQ tests, but they also score a lot higher on "how much they love themselves."

Scoring a bit higher on IQ tests could mean just about anything:
from improved nutrition, to slight curve in genetics, to IQ tests that are stupider, to children in our modern society being more adept at just answering the particular types of questions asked on IQ tests... or even IQ test that are easier to cheat on with cell phones.

Who knows.

*It's really hard to know what some statistics are really getting at without a lot more information.

* But I don't think we're suddenly producing more rocket scientists... so there ya go.


5. Even government studies show them to be more narcissistic and self absorbed.

So that's why you aren't having much fun debating a younger generation...
they'll be prone to be a lot less "nice" even than the BDF on a bad day.



Conclusions:

1. I don't think the OP stumbled into an average group of Millennials or Gen Z.

2. I think the OP stumbled into a group of Millennials or Gen Z that were specifically on a forum to engage in debate, and having an interest in rhetorical debate completely skews the group away from any statistical norms.

3. Therefore... don't worry about it.

It amazes me how many people name call when they talk politics. There are so many different opinions about everything that we can't all possibly be right.

When people have to use big words and try to be little someone else to get their point across it usually means they don't know what they're talking about.

First, it's a lot easier to be a jerk to words on a screen than to humans. If they were talking to you in person they would probably not be nearly that rude. Unfortunately they don't think about that, so they keep being jerks to the words on their screens.

Second, as you said they have a search engine at the ready to look up anything they want at a moment's notice. If you took that away... you wouldn't believe how fast their apparent IQ would drop.

Third, they take their time to put together as scathing a post as possible. If they were talking in real time they would be far less intelligible.

Leaving them alone is probably the best option, unfortunately. They will probably grow out of the "I know everything and you're an idiot" phase. We hope. But for now there's nothing we can really do for them except wish them luck in their maturing.

Not sure what social forum you were at but certain kinds will have people who are far more intellectual than others but trust me being intellectual has nothing to do with age and a lot of times people use complicated words and phrases to appear more sophisticated than they are plus if all they did was insult you then I would say they aren't very intellectual

The modern feminist movement, what some call "3rd wave feminism", has it's own specialized steaming pile of virtually meaningless, pseudo-intellectual jargon, which they use to beat everyone down.

That discussion sounds all over the place to me. Feminism is broadly based on a womans rights in society not sexual partners.

Yea that is a pretty common one for people my age. I don't think it really has so much to do with feminism as it does the doctrines of the demons that Paul talks about that forbid the young to marry and so because they are discouraged in such things, frighteningly even by the churches, then they depart from the faith and then they fall into confusion and become prey to all the new age nonsense. Smart man that Apostle Paul, he definitely saw the future!
