I'm skipping to the end of this thread, so if someone already said this, my apologies!
First, Assad has been poisoning his own people with gas for almost the entire 6 year war. He promised he would not use Sarin gas anymore to the UN, and signed documents to that effect, although his recent attack was Sarin gas. He also uses chlorine gas, because it kills germs. I saw him speak, and he referred to the "terrorists" as germs, and hence killing them, including women and children and the elderly, was justified to eradicate the "disease."
Second, I just watched a movie today that my husband recorded called "Cries from Syria." It is very pro the Free Army and the citizens of Syria. It documents the whole war. I recognized that the name of the producer was Russian, so I wondered if it might be pro-Assad propaganda. But, it turns out this producer was a Russian Jew, who immigrated to Israel, where he has been producing award winning documentaries for many years. I found it interesting he became so involved in the Syrian people's cause.
The documentary is probably a bit on the propaganda side. But it does give a good background on the conflict, and the HUGE number of times Assad has gassed his own people, to say nothing of bombing the cities and infrastructure in the country till past recognition.
Third, I am really against war. I do worry that this might turn into World War III. But, I think that it is time someone stopped this horrendous dictator, who has literally destroyed his own country, killed millions of his own countrymen, and is on the side of Russia, if it comes down to a big war. Thus, the West has to do something to contain this. Obama should have done something a long time ago, and maybe it would mean we might not be on the brink of a war now. If it is too early for Trump to be fighting a war, it certainly was Obama that put him in this position.
Even our left wing, Muslim prime minister is supporting Trump's bombing. That might be because he doesn't want Canada to be cut out of the American pie. But since we have already brought in 50,000 Syrian refugees, I have heard, we are already part of this on-going nightmare in Syria.
PS If you can get ahold of this documentary, "Cries from Syria" is is worth the watch! I youtubed it, but the only one on it had no sound, and it was not nearly as long as the original. I guess HBO picked it up and showed it.
