love you guys but if you love sin you are a servant to it..... and we cannot serve two masters.... making a mistake and feeling guilty (only because faith not pride of how holy you are) happens

but doing evil and saying "oh i believe in Jesus" without a 2nd thought of the price he paid for you or how he feels

that shows your heart to God

if you leave your door unlocked your whole life... when someone calls you and says tonight if your door is unlocked i will come in, kill you and all your loved ones and steal all you own

if you believe them you lock your door... you dont say oh i believe you and keep doing as you were before they told you what their plans are
Nice analogy.....the only problem is we are not talking about an intruder and locked doors....we are talking about JESUS, eternal life based upon faith and the results of the faith and salvation one already possesses.......

No one has denied that genuine believers will produce fruit and or have works.....the contention is simple....do said works save someone or keep one saved....the answer is NO......as in NO WORKS REQUIRED

It pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. <--NO WORKS

In the grace you are, having been saved out of faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of GOD, not of works lest any man should boast<----NO WORKS

NOT BY WORKS of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy has he SAVED US<--NO WORKS

HE that believes on the SON is having EVERLASTING LIFE<---NO WORKS

For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten SON, that whosever believes in him should not perish, but is having everlasting life.<---NO WORKS

HE that believeth on the SON is not condemned<----NO WORKS

Abraham believed God and it was put to his account for righteousness<---NO WORKS

OH foolish Galatians, who has BEWITCHED THEE, HAVING begun in the SPIRIT are you now made COMPLETE OR PERFECT BY THE FLESH<---WORKS

A gospel of a different kind, no power to save, double cursed and not of GOD!

whoops i think you made a false assumption

like i implied you need works to be saved

i didnt

i said a new heart from being saved will produce works

so a wicked sinful person (as we all are without the blood of Jesus) will not have a changed heart and not show works

if this offends you id be concerned

but seeing as how you started the thread maybe youre just on the defense vs people who think they earn their way in

said if you love sin didnt point a finger at ya :)

if you i dunno lets say fornicate or masterbate and dont repent of it

that doesnt show someone being born again and having a changed heart.... sounds like a typical non believer

maybe thats a stretch... but i know faith in Jesus saves, its just people use that and decieve themselfs never getting a new heart or truely get saved... they have no fruit they dont attempt to repent or love God.... they just use the idea of Only believing is a get outta hell free card while never obeying or accepting the change that we are offered through faith
You know...the bible is full of examples....we have saved very faithful mature servants, we have believers who fall in sin, we have believers that produce an abundance and some who only produce 1 piece of shriveled up fruit......God gets the greatest glory from the weakest vessels.....God delight's in mercy and the worst need it the most.........I can think of the times Jesus marveled at faith....and who went away justified.

1. The Roman who said I am not worthy that you come under my roof.
2. The woman who compared herself to a dog licking from the crumbs that fell from the master's table
3. The man who said, "Lord, be merciful unto me a sinner

Feeling guilty CAN lead to repentance, though. :) If a person who committed a sin,was unrepentant, they wouldn't feel guilty. But if they DO feel guilty, sooner or later they'll feel compelled to repent.. jmo

I don't believe that....David was a saved child of God, under inspiration spoke of his salvation, is called a man after God's own heart by God and he ultimately took Bathsheba, had her husband killed and for a long time hid the sin and put off confessing....he even writes of the nightly conviction that roared in his bones and he did not confess until confronted by Nathan the prophet.

He paid the price for his sin, but never lost his salvation...the price being..

a. Loss of firstborn with Bathsheba <--Picture of the innocent son of DAVID (JESUS) paying the price...under the law David should have been killed
b. The sword in David's house and rebellious son's his whole life
c. Sickness and disease in his latter years
d. Shame

You're a little off on this. You do NOT need works to be saved. You need faith and belief. We are commanded to do good works, yes, but NOT for the purpose of gaining or keeping our salvation..:) We are told to love our neighbors as ourselves. Whether that is cooking them a meal, mowing their lawn, taking them shopping, etc. Those things are good works, but totally UNnecessary for gaining and maintaining salvation.

Unless they become seared of conscience, of course. I suppose that is how the most hardened criminals become what they are... they refuse to repent, and their heart remains a stone. Do you think such people were saved? I doubt most people get that bad though, yet Jesus set the bar much higher, didn't He? Getting mad at someone and harboring resentment against them is murdering them in your heart, and it is the heart that God looks upon.

Of course a new heart produces something. I never said it didn't. :) And the power of Jesus ALWAYS produces good fruit. In post #4225, you said we need works for salvation. Unless I misunderstood the post, in which case, I apologize. :)
