That's the question I'm asking. :) My family and I always went to church on Sunday's. However, I know some people go on Saturdays or Wednesdays. So what is the actual Sabbath on? And does it matter to God what day we do worship on? Bible verses would be helpful. :)
The first day of the week is Sunday, so God rested on Saturday.
Genesis 2New King James Version (NKJV)

2 Thus the heavens and the earth, and all the host of them, were finished. [SUP]2 [/SUP]And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. [SUP]3 [/SUP]Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.

God blessed Saturday and sanctified it. The Jews always worshiped on Saturday and continue to.

The Vatican changed the day of Worship from Saturday to SUNday, with no scriptural or cultural reasoning or anything. They also inverted the sign of the cross with no reasoning. They placed Easter on a day symbolic to and honoring the physical sun, as well as Christmas. Some say this was done because of Pagan tradition of sun worship, some say the vatican and catholic church are secret devil/sun worshipers and did this as tribute.

So Christians today believe the Sabbath is on Sunday because the corrupted Catholic Church changed it to Sunday, and the Jews worship on Saturday because they denied the Messiah and continue on with all the old traditions including some that are true or still relevant.

So since God sanctified Saturday, we should hold our Sabbath on Saturday. Although our society or at least my mind treats Sunday as the last day of the week, so maybe this counteracts things and Sunday becomes grey area Sabbath because of circumstances. Depends on whether it's the Seventh Day of the week that has special properties, or the day in our minds devoted to worship, or both.

Oh. There's a legalistic sabbath, and then there's another sabbath.

Jesus broke what the lawyers at the time THOUGHT was the sabbath.

Same thing Christians do today. They break what the legalists and lawyers THINK is the sabbath.

But the lawyers and legalists were wrong. And still are.

Have you read Hebrews 4? Do you know what sabbath means?
Jesus kept the Torah (what you would call law) to the last letter. He was the perfect sacrifice. If we have a problem with Torah it is because we are wrong, not Torah. Torah is perfection but will not be good enough for your salvation, it never was the goal of Torah to safe you.

Jesus/Yeshua was always the only way into the kingdom of God and it will never change.

Jesus is the Sabbath, in that He is Lord of it and He gives rest. Matthew 11:28-30, 12:1, 7-8 "Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.1 At that time Jesus went through the grainfields on the Sabbath. His disciples were hungry, and they began to pluck heads of grain and to eat........7 And if you had known what this means, ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice,’ you would not have condemned the guiltless.8 For the Son of Man is lord of the Sabbath.

Why insist with the JEWISH Sabbath when the Bible says ''it is the Sabbath of the Lord. You obviously don't believe GOD ! The Sabbath was created long before any mention of Jews - they are just the only ones to 'remember it and have been continually persecuted, hated and harassed by 'pretenders and false followers.

I think most christians are not open or willing to conform to the Word of God. They are rather willing to follow the traditions of men. And always try to find a loop hole to not obey God.

I really hope that my sister who started this thread was truely sincere and willing to accept truth. Because then I do not really undrstand why all this discussion when believers only want to justify their beliefs rather then what the word of God actually teach. There is sufficient evidence to support the biblical sabbath.

The amazing thing about our God, He never force anybody. If you are going to doubt there will be grounds to doubt and there is grounds to believe.

Love and peace to all.

The Old Testament Sabbath (physical sabbath- which we are not under) was on Saturday. We can assemble together on any day, but we must assemble together "upon the first day of the week" (Sunday). Old covenant = Saturday, New Covenant = Sunday. Saturday commemorates a finished creation, whilst Sunday commemorates a finished redemption. We are not under Moses, but under Christ.

There are many things we are to do upon the first day of the week- assemble together in Christ's name, have fellowship, have prayer, have a teaching of scripture in an orderly fashion, lay by and store (give money to God, a percentage that you decided on in your heart), partake of the Lord's Supper, praise God from "the fruit of your lips" / "make melody in your heart to God" (sing praises)- all of which can be done by going to church, on Sunday.

Just Google all the scriptures that say "first day week verse."

There scriptures mentioning the "first day of the week", you need to ask yourself in those verses are the sacredness of the Sabbath being transferred to the "first day of the week". The first day might be mention however on what authority do you do that?

Is there a scripture that clearly states, we must now keep the first day of the week?

And again you think that the way of the world today is the right way ?
GOD must have got it wrong to choose the Sabbath as His holy day when He must have known it would not fit in with us !
You are not thinking on GOD's terms but the worlds...so GOD must be wrong !
Eccl 8v11, Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.... In plain english 'people ABUSE God's patience for their own purpose.
We'd be in trouble if hospitals didn't stay open on Sundays, and policemen and firemen didn't come to work on Sundays. You need to understand the purpose of the sabbath and be less concerned about the letter of the law. Jesus told us that he is Lord even of the Sabbath. If you are walking with him and doing as he asks you, then you are doing fine.

Jesus was clear to rescue your animal in need even if it was on the Sabbath and He kept Torah to the last letter.

Stop these silly arguments because this is what the Pharisees did, they twisted God's word to further their agendas.

We are concerned with the correct day of the sabbath because God sanctified the day. We want to not only do fine, but take advantage and honor the correct sanctified day.

Thanks for telling me I would be in trouble for a claim I never made.

Where did I say we shouldn't take specific actions on the Sabbath?

Any post I made is in reference to the correct day we should honor it on.

So you are not arguing that if you kept the Sabbath you have to close hospitals and police stations on the Sabbath?

You are backtracking on your own post.

I will say again Jesus said this: Luke 14:5 Then he asked them, "If one of you has a child or an ox that falls into a well on the Sabbath day, will you not immediately pull it out?" and He kept the Sabbath to the letter.....

Just because calendars we buy at the store list Saturday as the last day of the week doesn't mean Saturday is the last day of the week. I could make you a calendar that lists Wednesday as the last day of the week. It could become popular and in time everybody might be buying a calendar that lists Wednesday as the last day of the week. Then people will be telling us that Wednesday is the Sabbath.

The word Sabbath is not a time sensitive word in any way shape or form. It means rest with no other meaning added. The Holy Spirit calls it “today” as an active work of entering His rest, by faith. If we hear His voice and harden not our heart we have entered it. The key is by faith (believing). Some did not mix faith in what they did hear but rather made it a work of the flesh . That I believe shows a hard heart.

Heb 4:7 Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.
