This week, My son told me he knew what gay meant. I asked him what is it? He told me exactly what it is. He is 7, and I have no clue where or from whom he heard it from. Should I worry? I know, I cant protect them, but is 7 to early?

Yes you should worry.. He may have heard it from a predator who is starting to groom him..
 
Well...it's good that your son is learning new words...but this may also be an indication that he is hanging around the wrong influences. So I think what you can take from this is that you should just be a little more aware about the influences your son is exposed to, if that makes sense.

It won't be long until the curriculum is teaching him about "gender identity" in elementary school.

I guess this school in Washington teaches it in kindergarten!

You have to sit him down and have "the talk" in a mature way that will have a lasting impact. And by "the talk" I mean you have to tell him that satan/the government is running the earth at the moment and has brainwashed the adults into accepting homosexuality as healthy and "natural" to undermine God and break our spirits.

This will be confusing, but far less confusing than him trying to make sense of the world the way it is.

No you should not worry! How can I be so confident, and calm while saying this, especially since I have 3 sons myself? Well its simple, because at a very early age, I taught my sons my convictions, and lived them out. So my boys heard me quote Scripture a lot, a good example would be:

Philippians 4:6New American Standard Bible (NASB)

6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

But the thing is I also discussed and discovered the truth of each verse with them as I patiently went alongside them, doing so. The question kind of sounds like we are asking, "Should we ween our kids onto truth slowly?" And when we say it that way it sounds absurd. Another thing that comes to mind is that many times when satan attacks our minds we tend to try to survive it in our interpretation of Ephesians chapter 6 where it tells us to stand. But standing is not hoping for victory in worry, attempting to survive it, it is preemptive attacking satan and placing God's rightful place in the room with intent and no fear realizing we represent God's victory which is now also our own.

I would take my boys and calmly explain your experience with God in your life concerning this subject, remembering to include a 7 year old version of it. Later, note to bring in the verses: Leviticus 18:22; and 1 Cor. 6: 9-11 and explain how everything God does and says is love, for He is love. Try to show He is only wanting our Best, and He knows best how that should go. But,those verses are another day and time in my opinion. But don't hide the truth or satan will beat you to it with his lies.

From what I've seen of schools, there is a lot of info passed that way. You have a 4th grader who just learned about it who is talking about it to their friends, and your son overhears. I don't know that you have to be concerned about a predator (that could be an explanation but not necessarily), but if you have your son in school you do need to be proactive by giving him the biblical view on these things before the school gets to him. The problem is that you don't know when he might hear about these things in school...but I'm praying for you in this situation! Raising kids takes a lot of strength and wisdom and I'm sure with God's help you're doing a fine job.

I would say it's too early. We live in a perverse culture. Do the best you can. But then, a fellow first-grader taught me how to swear back around 1960.

Why not ask him where he heard it?

Honestly, I got the specifics on baby-making from my oldest brother by that time. Didn't believe my parents would do that until later. lol

Gay wasn't a word when I was young, but I'm sure oldest brother would fill me in on that too, had he known. I had no problems telling my parents where I learned stuff. Didn't know I wasn't supposed to tell them back then. And the only thing I knew I couldn't tell them is all I knew about the seven words we weren't supposed to ever use in front of them. Then again, only because we weren't supposed to say those words, not because I was hiding that I understood them just fine.

So find out where he learned it, and then figure out if it is something to worry about.
 
Everything that is evil and truly disturbing, I learned in public school.
