K
I died yesterday or better still, the old ME died yesterday, but the new ME is alive forever more.
Colossians 3:3 (KJV)
For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
Galatians 2:20 (KJV)
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God who loved me, and gave himself for me.
2Corinthians 5:17 (NLT)
What this means is that those who become Christians become new persons. They are not the same anymore, for the old life is gone. A new life has begun.
Personally, the greatest thing that ever happened to me was to receive Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour. Couldn't say that then because I didn't fully understand nor appreciate what receiving Christ into my heart meant. The Church I got born again in did little to help me value what transpired as a result of this singular act. I had formally received Christ but was officially introduced into religion as unfortunately is the case with many today.
However, as I began to discover who Jesus is and what His sacrifice provided me, it changed my perception. One of which is that I am no longer who I used to be because that fellow is no longer in existence. 2Corinthians 5:16. From that moment, I quit judging myself with my past but with my new identity - Jesus Christ. For as He is, so am I in this world. 1John 4:17
Now I'm enjoying my walk with the Lord, not because He got better but because I got wiser through the study of His word. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. Hebrews 13:8.
Being born again brings lots of advantages. Is there something in particular that struck or is striking you the most regarding what Jesus Christ did or is doing in your life right now? I'd love to hear about it. You can never tell who also might be encouraged by that.
