Ha,ha, you changed my story, they were in a position to drown without any way out without a Savior, they were not drowning in the sense of being dead. You know my point( it was obvious) those who are saved are saved because THEY made a choice to accept Christ AFTER God gave them the opportunity to accept Christ. Those who are lost are lost because THEY made a choice to reject Christ AFTER God gave them the opportunity to accept Christ. People have to choose God, the Lord does the saving but people have to make that choice.

When I was a new believer, I thought I choose Jesus.
.As I walked with God and His Holy spirit, He showed me how He chose me,..it just took me a while to accept His love for me and see how He worked in my life.
The real question is: do you have a personal relationship with God?
Does His Holy spirit tell you that you are His beloved child?
Have you accepted Jesus as Your personal savior?
Do you have a biblical view of who God is and what He expects from His children?

God called you and when you responded then He chose you. I think it is as simple as that. I experienced God's love before I was actually saved, that is how He won me over, with His love. I was not quite 14 at the time and had never read the bible. After asking God what He wanted me to do, I was engulfed in intense love and heard a voice speak to my mind(bypassing my physical ears), the first thing He said to me was, you must accept My Son as your Savior. God actually talked to me at my salvation experience, He went on to explain that Heaven and Hell were real and that if I committed my life to God then I would become His child and when I died in this life I would go to be with Him. He also explained that in my present condition I was headed for hell. Later, after I had came forward and accepted Jesus as Savior, the next morning I was shocked to hear the voice speaking out of my lower chest area and saying over and over, you are My child and I love you. During those times I would experience fountains of love springing up from within, at just the mention of Jesus. So yes, to most of your questions, and add to that 54 years of daily study of the bible. What I have learned is, above all else, God expects us to be truthful, if we are in the truth of God then the love will be there.

He is a shield to those who walk with integrity. 8 He guards the paths of the just and protects those who are faithful to him. 9 Then you will understand what is right, just, and fair, and you will find the right way to go. 10 For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will fill you with joy. 11 Wise choices will watch over you. Understanding will keep you safe. 12 Wisdom will save you from evil people, from those whose words are twisted.

Fran, many here perceive love to be kittens, puppies, cupcakes, roman catholic hearts and roses (all fleshly images)....Not knowing that love is obedience from the heart in sincerity to God's commands and applying them to our works towards God and our fellow man....The apostle Paul said that loving our neighbor fulfills the law of the Spirit. Some here speak both blessings and curses out of the same mouth, of the which the apostle James warns against....
Heaven will be full of criminals, who had faith in the blood of Jesus to save them.
Just wanted to share something uplifting in here, as the thread needs it.

You know the bible does not contradict itself.....the following statements made concerning salvation totally contradict a working for blend when it comes to salvation
Not by works of righteousness which we have done Titus 3:5
Not of works lest anyone should boast Ephesians 2:8-9
Therefore we conclude a man is justified by faith without the works of the law Romans 3:28
To blend faith and works for salvation, to get, keep or maintain is a false, double cursed pseudo gospel with no power to save Galatians 1 and 3
James does not say that works save or keep save, but rather is evidence before MEN that one is saved!
All who teach works as a means of salvation...to get, keep or maintain are called FOOLISH AND BEWITCHED BY PAUL
The bible does not contradict itself...if it is of WORKS IT IS NO LONGER GRACE....the bible teaches saved by FAITH THRU GRACE!
DON'T be considered foolish or bewitched by a man made theology of works for salvation which is false....faith and faith alone SAVES
It pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to SAVE THOSE THAT BELIEVE <---Faith
