Before salvation you were a sinner that needed to be saved by grace

After salvation you are no longer a sinner, but a sin forgiven son of God, a saint, an heir, a Brother

This does not mean you will never sin or nor am I advocating sinless perfection.

If you SIN it is because you chose to SIN.

SINNER is past, Saint is new creature.
Paul disagrees with you. He says I AM CHIEF SINNER, not WAS.

1 Timothy 1:15 KJV
This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

Is it possible that maybe you are the one not understanding Paul? Is the statement I made below true or not? Nothing personal, just debating the issue.... trying to help open your eyes. :)

Paul thanking God through Jesus Christ (converted to Christianity) says I (presently not when he was under the law) serve the law of God with my mind but serve the law of sin with his flesh.

Romans 7:25 KJV
I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

not really, because i dont omit the gospel teachings of Jesus, and those are the Light of truth by which all other things are understood...the foundation as it were.

but i think you took that as a n insult, i was just trying to make you aware that Peter wans pretty sternly that they are hard to understand, you may have already known that, it wasnt an accusation or saying you were ignorant or anything......and nope i dont take it personal in anyway i hope you arent either.

it just seems like allllllllll this scripture around the singular verses....coule possibly, maybe, in some minor way...help us understand the single verse a bit better. you have a good point, but it seems like you are purposely avoiding all the stuff Like " if you (present tense) Live by the flesh you will die, but if by the spirit ( persent tense and an acyion on your part) out to death the deeds of the body you will live"

along with the scriptures from galatians and ephesians 5 that semm to me anyways, to not fit your interpretations of like romans 8:1 when its left to just that one verse. why would paul on one hand teach mountains of scripture saying alkl these "acts of the flesh" will disqualify inheritance like in galatians and ephesian 5, if it simply doesnt apply to christians? are those actiaons something we just have in our mind, but it has nothing to do with our actions or " works of the flesh as paul defines, nit i, but paul ? seems like maybe, just mayyybe im on to something possibly? but i could just be blinded by all the rest of scripture to properly deduce one verse...im not positive

We live out of our true identity, in freedom to please Him by believing what He says.

Agree? Or not?

1Ti 1:13 In the past I was a blasphemer, a persecutor, and a violent man. But I received mercy because I acted ignorantly in my unbelief,

1Ti 1:14 and the grace of our Lord overflowed toward me, along with the faith and love that are in the Messiah Jesus.

1Ti 1:15 This is a trustworthy saying that deserves complete acceptance: To this world Messiah came, sinful people to reclaim. I am the worst of them.

1Ti 1:16 But for that very reason I received mercy, so that in me, as the worst sinner, the Messiah Jesus might demonstrate all of his patience as an example for those who would believe in him for eternal life.

Is Paul talking about himself before or after conversion, is he describing what Jesus did for him or not?

Oh yeah Vs 16 tells why Paul said he was a sinner[past tense]

[SUP]16 [/SUP]Yet for this reason I found mercy, so that in me as the foremost, Jesus Christ might demonstrate His perfect patience as an example for those who would believe in Him for eternal life.

1 Tim 1.15 must be understood in context with 16.

in Vs 16 Paul is telling people that Jesus saved even me, a real bad apple, and if he can save me, he can save you.

I don't man, normally when someone says I AM chief they are usually talking about present tense or they would say I WAS chief.

My point is that with our minds we love the law and love to do good, but our flesh (not the covering on our body) the "no good thing" that Paul talks about, that gets in our way and we can't 100% of the time (actually no where near 100%) do the good things that our hearts desire to do. Same is true with resisting the bad things we want to do, sometimes we are successful but more times than not we are not - IT'S OUR NATURE. That nature will never go away until we are translated or die. THE FLESH IS NOT REDEEMABLE. I'm not yelling by the way lol, I'm emphasizing.

I'm no different than you, you sin just as much as I do. You fail to do the good things you want to do sometimes just like I do. That is exactly what Paul is talking about in Romans 7 which should be a comfort to all of us knowing that BURDEN OF GUILT has been removed. There is nothing hard about the Christain life, we don't have to work and if we do good works or stop some particular sin for a period of time, it was not us that did it, it was God. And if we were the ones who did it, it's filthy rags to God.

Being a Christian has nothing to do with how much we sin! Being a Christian has everything to do with knowing our savior and developing a relationship with Him. Think about it, would we as fathers love our children less if we heard them say a curse word or caught them stealing or watching something they shouldn't be watching... of course we would still love them and WE ARE EVIL FATHERS. Our relationship with our kids is not performance based and neither is our relationship with God performance based - God loved us WHEN WE WERE YET SINNERS.

Telling people they have to stuggle with sin and over come it is bondage, it is no different than the Pharisees bondage. If God wills to deliver us from something then he will and we wont have to work for it. Again Christianity has nothing to do with SIN! It's about loving God and our neighbors with all our hearts.

Probably more than yu asked for lol.

lol its like a discussion with bruce :)

i havent said God Loves a sinner less than someone who obeys, you cant see the things im saying friend. and you have no place at all telling me i sin thats not at all anything you know, you just are judging me, by what you do and thinking " no one sins less than i" thats notat all a thought that will benifit you, nor one that offends me.

im thinking that you kind of have your mind set so ill let this one go.

either way though, i appreciate the time of discussion here with you, and you seem pretty kind hearted so im always happy to meet folks that present themselves that way.

i hope to speak with you again on some of those agreeable subjects and understand, i think both of us shouldnt be offended because we had a pretty adult convo, just have different views. hope you feel the same, and God Loves you ( Just as much as myself and the guys who have been walking years and years longer, and those who have yet to Hear the name Jesus <<<<thats my take on Gods Love, its a matter of Our Love for Him because we Know How much He Loves us is my position :)

Verse 16 gives you the reason why Paul said he was the chief sinner. You seem to be large on communicated one verse knowledge.

Man, really start at Vs 13-go to 16 and there is no way you could come up with still a sinner.

It's not about who is going to win bro, it's about undoing 25 years of communicated knowledge you have listened to.

TO say you are still sinner, means you continue to put Jesus on the cross. I read some of your other posts. YOU have head knowledge but not heart knowledge.

Maybe you should ask the Holy Spirit to give you heart knowledge of the Word.

Paul showed us how to ask for that in Eph 1.17-18

[SUP]17 [/SUP]that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him. [SUP]18 [/SUP]I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints

To me according to Romans 8:9, it looks like if we have the Spirit of Christ dwelling in us then we are walking in the spirit. Nothing to do with our actions other than having Christ in us.

Romans 8:9 KJV
But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
Notice... it said "IF so be that the Spirit of God dwell (lives) in you"

Not all who got born again are allowing the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ to actually LIVE in them as in yielding to the Lord allowing Him to lead and guide them... and so, they are walking after the flesh and are yet carnal.

Romans 8:5-8
For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

Romans 8:13,14
For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

Actually... Romans 8 is all good.

Everyone should be familiar with Romans 6 thru 8 and remember in Romans 7 it's not speaking of a born again person cause it describes someone who is "sold under sin" which would be someone under the law trying to keep the law and realizing they cannot do it

It's a;ways sad to see Christians who think chapter 7 describes Christians as being powerless against the flesh and so the devil tells them "yep, that's you... so why bother even looking at God's Word" which is just another devil ploy to get people to get lukewarm in their walk with the Lord and go back to living after the flesh.

Amen, brutha man!

Of course in these modern times... satan has taught some to simply redefine what sin is so some think they be scott free

They have these new newfanglede so-called bibles now that uses alternative wording as to not offend various groups of people in order to be inclusive
