I have to laugh at a lot of things I read here concerning "healing." But, sadly.
A woman is healed. And she is happy because the pain she has lived with for months, or even years, is now gone. Yet, should she make the mistake of mentioning it on this "supposedly" Christian forum, she is immediately assailed by any number of people making sure to let her know that it was not God.
Because, all these people seem to know that God is very limited and restricted in what He is allowed to do in the realm of healing. Anything less than bolts of lightening or maybe being struck from off the back of a horse cannot possibly be God working in your life. And, of course, the primary qualifying proof is that any of this has to be immediate.... despite the fact that Jesus, himself, took more than one quick shot to heal a man of blindness.
But, worse than this, is the equally fanatical crowd that seems to think God wants us to all drag around in at least "emotional" (but, preferably, PHYSICAL) pain and suffering until we are FINALLY healed after our deaths. It seem to almost be an act of blasphemy, in their estimation, for a Christian to express an extended period of time living in exaltation and joyfulness. That stuff is, PERHAPS, acceptable for a moment or two... and in the proper setting... and, of course, "righteously!"... but, don't you dare get a thrill out of riding a surfboard or even playing hop-scotch with the kids!
Does anyone here think I am being overly critical of a certain aspect of the church, or have some of you actually been victim to some of this treatment? And for those who really do this to other people...... May I ask "Why?" Do you think you are somehow saving them from damnation for believing God cares enough about them to relieve some suffering, here and now, while they are still alive?
