they are schooled and taught to be bullies. When we were in a reformed baptist church as a kid, my Dad taught things like this... Bully people, mow em down, accuse them, rip them to shreds, all under the pretense of defending the faith.

NO love at all and they cannot love, Because God chose them, it is a one sided relationship.
Bupkis!

Kind of like me trying to tell someone what all grade schools teach based on the grade school I went to.

I don't know about the lights, but I bet you get really, really bad gas mileage at that speed.
No tickets though, because cops can't keep up. OR time stops at the speed of light, so everyone is frozen. lol

(Old Steven Wright joke. But I've been thinking it out ever since.)

You have to deny a lot of other scripture to support this though. The gospel is preached to all the world for the elect's sake. Jesus made the claim he laid down his life for his sheep and died for many. We have to reconcile the all's with passages like these or else there is a contradiction. Jesus taught election. Paul taught election. Peter taught election. It's all over scripture. If Christ chose everyone, then everyone would be saved. Bottom line.
No need to deny anything at all. Everyone is who Jesus died for, the election doesn't finish everything, we have Israel as an example. Which Paul makes clear, it is all written for our learning and warning. The bottom line is that he loves the worst on earth so much that he suffered and died, to make a way home to God. Surely there are many who will choose darkness, but the light has been shining since Jesus began speaking and it became as bright as the sun when he walked to the cross. And became brighter still when he rose from the Grave, the eternal Lord and savior of mankind.

Its truly about who will accept Jesus. Again some will some won't, but God didn't force anyone to reject or accept. He's given every man woman and child the same place in his loving arms, some will not find the value, because the world looks too appealing to them. He hardens those who will not accept what's been done for us. He accepts all who accept Jesus Christ, he is not unjust, surely scripture makes clear that some are destined for darkness, but it's not Gods will causing it, it's just that he sees the end from the beginning and already knows who will forsake his son. The choice belongs to us.

But no offense or anything, just a different stance on this subject, God bless and I hope to find an agreeable subject with you as we have in the past. God loves you and you have the right to believe and speak your beliefs as well. Peace to you bro

I do not believe this one bit, but yet and your other 3 ring circus brothers love to paint everyone with this brush, if they don't believe as you do.

Why is that?

Oh wait, yeah you are taught that.
Bad habits die hard? You still beating sense into folks?

You did say your father taught you that When you were a child.

Have you learnt how God teaches His kids?

I haven't seen Him beat one yet,but folks claiming to be His kids seem to do it a lot.

James 3:17 ►
New International Version
But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.

You know some folks are gonna gossip no matter what you say.

The only question is...who will listen to their lies and who will care enough to speak to you and ask you directly what you believe?
Considering the number of people who been telling us we kill cats for the last three weeks, (metaphorically speaking), quite a few listen, and believe, the lies.

Honestly? It's even in a pinned post at the top of this forum. This isn't merely a small little thing going on. And it is quite unloving to lie about bros.

I've never been bothered by non-Reformed until the last three weeks on this site. And what bothers me is the viciousness of their lies.

(And, yeah, I also admit the hostility of some Reformed bothers me too, but that's hostility. Different than lies. It is different to me, because of my personality. Obviously, I don't have as much problem with hostility as out-and-out lying.)

Exactly... Are all born again of the Spirit?

God also desires to show his wrath:

What if God, desiring to show his wrath and to make known his power, has endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction, in order to make known the riches of his glory for vessels of mercy, which he has prepared beforehand for glory—

If he drew all men, all men would be saved by Christ's own admission so all can't mean all there. We have to take into account what he has already said leading up to this statement.

If we are the lucky few who choose correctly, that equals merit. We had something we mustered up within ourselves to make the right choice while others did not.

If God draws all men, how come not everyone who has ever lived since the crucifixion has been given a chance to hear the Gospel? Is that fair to them? Was it fair that God singled out an entire nation under the Old Covenant and wiped out others without giving them a chance?

Jesus said all who are drawn will be saved. All who are given to him will come to him. All can't mean all in that instance.

Also, how do you reconcile with this verse?

48 And when the Gentiles heard this, they began rejoicing and glorifying the word of the Lord, and as many as were appointed to eternal life believed.

We find election all over scripture.
No, I do not believe that choosing God is the equivalent of saying we have merited something. God's Word says that we are without excuse to reject Him, therefore, those who do reject Him to the end have refused to accept the grace offered, and they pass into the second death. We accept what He offers not due to how smart we are, or because we have earned anything. We have been convicted Spiritually of our need of Him, of Who He is, He is God! Do we not become appointed to eternal life when we accept what He has offered through the shedding of Jesus' righteous blood upon the cross at Golgotha? God made the appointment outside of time before the foundation of the world, but I have accepted it within the confines of the limitations of this world in space and time. I experienced God multiple times before I could lay down my opposition to Him. I do not support building a doctrine on one sentence that is not even a statement, but a what-if question. We both go by what God's Word says, yet have a slightly different understanding. Do you know the exact moment you were saved? I ask because God was drawing me for some time before I surrendered. At what point was I saved? There was a sixteen year lapse of time between God first clearly revealing Himself to me and my surrender to Him. Was I saved at thirty three years of age while I still ran from Him and rebelled against Him and acted in defiance of Him?

But to say it can be resisted is to deny what Jesus also says when he makes definite statements that "all the Father gives to me will come to me" and "no on can come to me unless the Father draws him and I will raise him up on the last day".
I see it as two different types of grace..,one for the whole world and one for the elect.

i have googled and never found out what pelagianism is so many different definitions whats the right one???????
Truthfully, pelagianism vs. Arminianism vs. Open-theism vs. Montanaism, and all that stuff is like describing the color purple. To most, "purple" is good enough. To some, we want to know if that's violet, lavender, indigo, lilac, mauve... etc. It just doesn't matter if purple works for you.

Purple works for me. And so, Reformed vs. Non-reformed.

If there is only predestination and election there is no need for a covenant between God and Man. I am just pointing this out, because many reformers do not believe in Covenant theology or things in the OT. It is because of this, that certain well known reformers, including John MacArthur, began spreading the false teaching known as replacement theology around.

This is what I see... You, who have been here all of 6 months, have bullied, harassed, and ridiculed ANYONE who disagrees with ANY OF YOUR DOCTRINES without the scantest bit of love!

Now you have the unmitigating gall to grab quotes from a sweet, loving, caring member, who had been here for years, and denigrate her, without her even being here to defend herself!

I call on the mods to put an end to these threads dealing with predestination vs freewill to stop the growing enmity between brothers and sisters in the Lord.
Please don't for an unexpected reason. Look at CS1's pinned thread about "hypergrace." For some reason he thinks Reformed is hypergrace. And, since he disagrees with hypergrace, we are already on a slippery slope for even being allowed to stay on this site, simply because we are Reformed!

Lynn, if folks thought they were lying, one would hope they would stop.

Most people actually believe what they say.

Most of I see it as hostility and defensive behavior mixed in with lots of strawmen from both sides.

There are a handful of folks from both sides, if ignored the rest could have decent convo with....but instead everyone read their lies and strawmen and attack the respective straw man that is just a caricature of the other person's theological position.

Then it becomes a fighting match with both sides feeling misrepresented and attacked.

I agree that this predestination vs. free will thing is not in any way preaching Christ and Him crucified. It's just a ploy from the enemy to cause strife and division.

Yep very true!

Thankfully some one met my Dad and showed him the truth and after he knew the truth, it set him free and he pulled us out of reformed Baptist circles. Both Dad and Mom spent the next several years counseling people out of that stuff.
Actually, by now you and 1of are doing fine examples of double-standards.

If God chooses who will be saved, and who will not be saved, without their input, then that would mean that all Jews would of been saved, for they were chosen to follow God,and the sins of the nation of Israel was atoned for once a year by the High Priest, and they looked to the Messiah to come, who would completely wash away their sins.

But the Bible says, not all Jews are saved,so why is that when Jesus, the Messiah to come, applies to them too,so the benefit is to them the same as the benefit to the saints in the New Testament, and they were chosen of God as a nation to follow Him.

God gave the Old Testament,if they did not comply, they were not saved.

God gives the New Testament,if they do not comply, they are not saved.

Creation testifies of a God that loves people, love God,and love people,so the world is without excuse,so all those who did not hear the word of God will be judged on creation, and their conscience, and if they complied they are saved at the end of the millennial reign of Christ when the dead rise to be judged, and those that did not comply, are not saved.

1Ti 2:3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
1Ti 2:4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

Act 17:30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent.

Rev 22:17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

Mat 22:14 For many are called, but few are chosen.

1Co 1:26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called.

God does the calling, and choosing on earth, dependent on the person's actions.

Heb 4:1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.

Rom 11:21 For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee.
Rom 11:22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.

Jas 5:19 Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him;
Jas 5:20 Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

1Co 10:12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.

Heb 10:38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.

Heb 3:12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
Heb 3:13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

Your church experience was awful, but don't let it color your eyes to what people are actually saying.

The reformed folks on this forum are not cut from the same cloth as your father and his ex-cronies.

Just because they use similar words doesn't mean they believe or teach lies.
