I keep trying to get through this thread, and getting side tracked.

So, in a nut shell. Context! Read the verses in context!

"But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith that we proclaim);9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved." Romans 10:8-10

Notice what it says "heart, and heart!"

The word is in your mouth, that is, saying "Jesus is Lord" but for it to have any meaning, it must be IN YOUR HEART. The verse after 10:9, says, "confess with the mouth, but the heart one believes and is justified."

So compare to what Jesus is saying in Matt 7:21-23

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’" Matt 7:21-23

First, this is at the end of the Sermon on the Mount, where Jesus tells us how to live. Not how to mouth words, but to live. So, when someone comes around and says, "Hey, I'm calling you Lord, Jesus, you have to save me. And look, I prophesied in your name, and cast demons out etc, so that proves I'm saved, right??"

What does Jesus reply? Well, that being saved is not about what we say, unless it comes from a changed heart. We can pretend to do good things for God, we can use his name, but it is only the Spirit of God, who causes us to be born from above by the Spirit, that makes that heart change possible, so that we can truly say out of our hearts, "Jesus is MY Lord!"

The fact is, God puts a new heart within us when he saves us by his Spirit.

"And you show that you are a letter from Christ delivered by us, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts." 2 Cor. 3:3

God changes us into new creatures and that is how our hearts are able to say, "Jesus is Lord." This is so important, because just making a profession of faith, or even performing signs and wonders is not always a sign of the change God does in our hearts, so that we might be born from above of the Spirit. And too often, religious people will mouth the words, "Jesus is Lord!" but the have never been changed in their hearts by the Holy Spirit. That is who Jesus is addressing in Matt 7. Those who have not had the life changing transformation in their hearts by the Spirit, from above.

So, I will forgive you in love. I hope I have not hurt you, either. I do believe initially you were sincere in your first posts about trying to understand what Reformers believe. But the third thread, was total attack, and yes, at least for me, you lied about what Reformers believe, and specifically you lied about me by name, and what I believed.

I'm done. I'm out.
Sadly this is what has been going on. Nothing really that contributes to the thread, it's several who come in to do the lying, the name calling callowness, things like this. It really should stop. It would be great to see them own up to their behavior and repent.

How does Luciferianism apply to this thread?
Glad I took a peak at this. :)

Folks, it is not if this term applies to this thread. That would be to miss the point here because it is not a thread that is being attacked, it is persons. It is a group of persons.

It is rather to be asked "How does the apply to any person on here?" (not that I'd expect any from that group to stand out and speak up for others they loathe).

Well, it doesn't apply to any person or persons on here yet this is the behavior that stems from those who attack the Reformed brothers and sisters on here. Everyone can see it whether they admit it or not, there has been an outright assault on these brothers and sisters who are Reformed by several people and they all support one another's efforts to do so. There is also a huge amount of lying mixed in it.

Then they talk about being loving.

And loving and accepting heretics whose teachings are proven thus.

And it's said that these only have "differing opinions" and we should accept them.

But those Reformed brothers who time after time share Biblical truth, properly exegeted texts? They aren't even considered to be saved because these are not to be accepted in the same manner. Is it not of interested they do not get granted the "they have differing opinions" excuse while also being "protected" by this camp? (not that we desire your protection, believe me, just pointing out the inconsistency and hypocrisy).

No, the Reformed are to be maligned, slandered, attacked and that is a well known fact. All the while, you know, they lament the pointing out of false teachers and heretics, and protect them, and tell us to accept others of "differing opinions" while slandering us. LOL!!!!

Paul was saying that those in Corinth were acting like mere men and men of flesh - in other words not being spiritually minded.

1 Corinthians 3:1-4 (NASB)
[SUP]1 [/SUP]
And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual men, but as to men of flesh, as to infants in Christ.

[SUP]2 [/SUP]
I gave you milk to drink, not solid food; for you were not yet able to receive it. Indeed, even now you are not yet able,

[SUP]3 [/SUP]
for you are still fleshly. For since there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not fleshly, and are you not walking like mere men?

[SUP]4 [/SUP]
For when one says, "I am of Paul," and another, "I am of Apollos," are you not mere men?

Notice that in verse 1 Paul says that they are "babes in Christ".

1 Corinthians 1:11-12 (NASB)
[SUP]11 [/SUP] For I have been informed concerning you, my brethren, by Chloe's people, that there are quarrels among you.

[SUP]12 [/SUP] Now I mean this, that each one of you is saying, "I am of Paul," and "I of Apollos," and "I of Cephas," and "I of Christ."

This is no different then saying '"I am of Reformed". I am of Pentecostal", I am of " Baptist", "I am of Charismatic", "I am of Wesleyan", "I am of Free Grace"..etc

Not sure what are you trying to do or say. Predestination is in the Bible:

"For truly in this city there were gathered together against Your holy servant Jesus, whom You anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, along with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel, to do whatever Your hand and Your purpose predestined to occur."

Acts 4:27-28. Just read to the end of the sentence. Verses division is wrong.

This is what I'm hearing.

It's blue.

No, it's really not. It's yellow.

No, it's blue.

Well, you see it's yellow, because it's a bright color, and (followed by several other reasons yellow is not blue.)

It's blue.

Did you hear me? It can't be blue because...

Yes, I heard you. You said it's red, but it's blue, because blue is better than red.

Well, maybe blue is better than red, but it's yellow.

Stop believing it's red.

I don't believe it's red. It's yellow.

Everyone knows it's blue, except you people keep insisting it's red.

And, frankly, although I do think it's yellow, stop telling me I think it's red. Yeesh!
I think it's purple....lol.

Joyce makes the claim Jesus didn't atone for our sins on the cross but in hell at the hands of demons torturing him. She also claims he was the first born again man. She claims he died spiritually. She claims he was no longer God and ceased being deity. She claims that if you don't believe this you aren't saved.

Joseph Prince has personified grace to the point of calling it "Mother Grace". He teaches against repentance. He teaches anti-morality or antinomianism. He preaches a false gospel of health and wealth and not Christ crucified. He was mentored by heretic Kenneth Hagin.

There is plenty of evidence to substantiate these claims. All it takes is a simple google search to see transcripts and videos of them teaching what they teach.
"false gospel of health and wealth"

One day they will be as correct as you guys and drop all that healing and blessing.

They can instruct them not to do as Jesus did and prophesy sickness, poverty, and depression, and bondage over their people.

I guess Jesus was way out of line since there is barely a day went by that someone wasn't healed or some bondage broken.

Don't you just hate the entire book of acts in that there is a miracle on virtual every page.

Gospel = good news

Healing and money = bad news.

Ok lets review. Sickness, poverty, bondage,is Jesus nature and Good news.

New improved bibles pending editing completion.

Now that is good news!!!

there lies a problem as well, that has been happening for many years, every author wants their bible to read a little different then the next.
You're missing 4:28, which was nearly the entire point of trofimus post. Somehow after your quoting many texts that portion was left out. All the texts in the other versions say the same thing as trofimus verse of choice so your post missed this point entirely.

God is the alpha and the omega the beginning and the end, all knowing, He knows what His plan is, for God planned it of coarse. He alone is the one who knows the predestined of coarse, there was only one predestined man who walked the earth that man was Jesus. Jesus knew who He was the Son of God, even at 12 years old He knew He came to do His Father's business.
Not quite true, every person elected was also predestined as well. That truth is all over the Scriptures. Your point that this was only for Jesus is incorrect. Just as you skipped around Acts 4:48 you are also skipping around the truth of His elect being also predestined.

the Rightous or the Elect don't boast or speak of, saying the following (I am a chosen one or predestined and your not or looking at others in such a manner is prideful IMO) .
Bro, the above is false, no one here is boasting in being elect or predestined in the manner you present it. You're presenting a straw man. No one looks down on others and says "I am chosen and you are not." That too is a straw man. No one here has ever said such a thing. It would be nice to actually debate what was said instead of having this perpetually misconstrued "You said, he said, you all say" accusations that are time and again totally unsubstantiated.

I ask you to discontinue this, it is to no ones advantage and frankly it is nothing less than false accusations. There are enough of these accusations on this Christian site. Argue the actual statements without skipping around verses and fabricating statements as if the were said. It's being dishonest and surely you can see that it is if you think about it.

Now, if someone actually says what you accuse, then by all means go for it, but making it up isn't becoming of a professing believer.

Anyhow here is a good passage, and shows that our boasting is not in us, but in God who has chosen us:

For consider your calling, brothers: not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, so that no human being might boast in the presence of God. And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption, so that, as it is written, "Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord." 1 Corinthians 1:26-31

Yes, we boast in what God has done, and what He has done is choosing us (electing us) to salvation. We boast in that.

And here is another:

But we ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers beloved by the Lord, because God chose you as the firstfruits to be saved, through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth. To this he called you through our gospel, so that you may obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the traditions that you were taught by us, either by our spoken word or by our letter. 2 Thessalonians 2"13-15

We also boast in the above Scripture as well concerning what God has wrought.

Yeah...my message doesn't change...God doesn't teach folks by beating them up with words or encouraging gossip or backbitting or slander.

Folks can stand up for God's truth, reveal bad doctrine and teach people the wisdom and discernment to spot wolves without vitriol and name calling.

When someone honestly mistunderstands what is being said, they and you should take your own advice and say...

"I can see how you can take it that way, but what I really meant is _______" instead of accusing them of misrepresenting you and accusing them of slander, when it was your words that were unclear.

However I have found people give advice better than take their own advice.

Calling you Luciferian is over the line.

Implying anyone who finds your behavior and methods of accusing folks who don't agree with you as slanders, wolves, pelagianist, universalist, liars, etc is reprehensible and doesn't display Christian maturity even if your doctrine is right...your words are just loud cymbals without any love showing.

I believe that God knows that anyone who believes in Christ would become the called out, the chosen, part of the body of Christ, the church and that he knew this plan from the beginning and it is his purpose.

As to know each individual's choices and decisions in life before they make them - nope. If I believed that God knew everything that was going to happen before it happened I would have to believe that he knew Lucifer would rebel against him and later wreak havoc upon mankind and in our own individual lives daily but still went ahead and created him . . . . I would have to believe that God placed that tree of knowledge of good and evil in the garden, created Adam and Eve, gave them one command and then laughed knowing they would not be able to obey him . . . I would have to believe that God created Adolf Hitler knowing what kind of man he was going to be but created him anyway. I believe that God has given man freedom to make choices and decisions on their own. . . . Something to ponder on.

Okay. This explains it. No point in discussing predestination if you believe God isn't omniscient.

Just wondering, are you an open theist? Or is this just a personal belief you adhere to?

The bible teaches God knew everything before he created it. He knew Satan would rebel. He knew we would be deceived and follow suit. The bible also teaches that he predestined people before he even created the world. I gave scripture to support it. The idea of God being limited in knowledge and not knowing the future isn't biblical.

A friut that hides is a friut that lies.
Uhm... what? I quoted Acts, read it, there is "predestined" in it. No lies.

LOL

"Predestined is in the bible"

Then those same folks think healing and blessing are not. Too funny.

Psssst, error is error. Most all error contains truth in it somewhere.

Maybe we will call you guys error WOP. "Word of predestination" IOW,a "new" overemphasis of some groups pet piece of bible

Well, you're well known and infamous for slinging mud. At it again, eh?
argh... please may i try to explain? i truly don't mean to be meddlesome.

you see, it's Ed. we're talking about Ed, right? (if i followed that correctly)

what i've learned about my much loved brother Ed is his heart belongs to the Lord. sometimes, like all of us, he gets upset and might say something about it, again, like all of us. he's also one of the kindest men here. a man who puts into practice what he believes. ask him for his shirt and you'll get his coat, too. you don't even have to ask! :)

so, yeah, his theology doesn't match mine perfectly, but if push came to shove, i'd like Ed in my foxhole.
he'd take a bullet for any one of us in a heartbeat.

PennEd,

The holy spirit testifies if you one of God's elect, but you can spot a mature Christian by the fruit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control in their lives. They shine God's light clearly and speak life giving water.

It's not wrong to proclaim you are a child of God and one of His elect.

It is wrong to think yourself better than others and shows pride and lack of humility. We should give all glory to God because we didn't deserve His mercy of grace.

I believe God predestined His elect to do the good works he saves us to do. Each person's work is different, for we are different members of the Body of Christ with Jesus being the Head.

We all have been given spiritual gifts from God for His glory and His purpose. We just have to learn to be mature Christians grounded in Him and His Words.
