my brother became a Mormon and my mom is freaking out

Thats why 1 John 2 says to be careful of what you began in

and that's also why 2 John 1 identifies those who progress above THE HEAD (Who is CHRIST- who is both THE FOUNDATION and HEAD of HIS BODY ) as those who go beyond the DOCTRINE of CHRIST
 
I don't know what you want me to say

that these who think there is a lost priesthood authority already make manifest that they went out from (if they even began in) THE BODY

If they had even began in HIM, they never would have gone out
thwt would have clearly seen their error in even suggesting a list priesthood to begin with
 
And by the way, the ETERNAL HIGH PRIEST who entered in for us and is our anchor and in whom we are being built up into a royal priesthood did not lose HIS priesthood authority. And HE certainly is not entrusting HIS AUTHORITY to another

​I John 2:19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us. But they went out, that it might become plain that they all are not of us.

My sister's daughter did the same thing, one day she posted a video of some moron rapping about how an angel told smith that all the Churches were apostasy. So I posted that she was part of a cult and my family jumped all over me. I said wait she posted a video of a guy rapping saying we go to an apostasy Church and I'm wrong, she should not have posted a video saying we go to an apostasy Church.

The Bible is more than 1000 pages long. It can be cumbersome following every suggestion all at once. I think if we keep to the Lord's commandments, we will do well.

Yes, theology. We can obey the Lord's commandments, or we can create a lot of new ones. I would suggest the former.

I suspect that if you look at the Book of Discipline (that's what we call it in our church) of any denomination, you will find things you disagree with. What matters is whether someone is obeying the Lord's commandments or not. When you obey the Lord's commandments, you stay out of trouble.

I think you make it too complicated. Obey the Lord's commandments and enjoy life. I think that is the Lord's will.
 
A powerful tool of the Mormon faith is the belief that they are led by 12 apostles and a prophet. These people are not "in name only" but of the stay line as Peter,Paul and John. They claim the same abilities and hence the same authority as the New Testament apostles. When confronted with clear error they will reply that God would never allow His messengers to speak falsehood, so it must be you who is confused. After all your church does not have even one apostle. They believe all non-Mormon apostles are bogus.

They accept much like many other churches, the claims of supernatural abilities by their leaders as proof of their office.

This is taught by the Mormon Church and is accepted by all Mormons. To see this first hand go to chatwithamormon.com and ask them yourself.

Their train of thought is no different then most Pentecostals and charismatics. "How can we be wrong when God has given us this supernatural gift??

HE said if you love ME keep my commands
Any man who loves ME MY father will love him and WE will come and make OUR home with him

This follows along the same TRUTH as mentioned in 1 joh 2


Be careful that what you began in remains in you
if what you began in remains in you, you too will remain in both THE FATHER and THE SON
Andvthis is what HE promised us

even eternal life

CHRIST said remain in HIM

I think that is sufficient

Yes, keep our sights on HIM. But that would include going into the Bible and finding the specific things he said.

Remaining on topic to this thread, if the NEW COVENANT promised in Jeremiah and Ezekiel of which CHRIST spoke of in John 14 through John 17 to HIS DISCIPLES (those yesterday, today and tomorrow) had happened to this Joseph smith, he never would have done what he did

THE written word of GOD does not and never will contradict HIS VOICE/SPIRIT

And HIS VOICE/SPIRIT does not and never will contradict His written WORD

(and I'm not referring to the Book of Mormon)

Yes, he leads us with his spirit. Said another way, we develop a personal relationship with him and follow him.

It is true that the Lord will never command us to break his commandments. Now tell me this: If a Mormon obeys those commandments, and a Christian disobeys those commandments, which of the two is the Lord happy with?

​I like the way they claim to be Christians, then when you say if you are a Christian I'm a mormon. They will ask how are you a mormon, I simply say the same way you are a Christian.

GOD's WILL and WORK is clearly stated in John 6

it is very simple

but its men who add yeast where yeast is not needed that make it difficult
