I often get a a feeling of sorrow when ive made a bad judgement..
I think our emotions tell us to pray and seek what God wants us to know.

When I sin, I stop hearing the peacful music that is normally in my heart...silence always means trouble for me.

Like in nature and all the birds stop singing.

I am trying to figure out how to put to words my understanding of conviction..,,

I think we need discernment. Sometimes the Enemy tries and condemns us of sins we have already repented of and sometimes the Enemy condemns of things we aren't guilty of.

For example you are looking out the window to see if it's raining and a man comes and picked a fight with you that you looked at his wife.

Satan does things like that and makes us question ourselves and if we are awful people.

However God tells us He loves us and has forgiven us. We need to focus on His love and doing His will.

If we feel condemned or convicted we need to pray and ask God which it is.

You know the difference because God's convictions comes with instruction of how to OVeRCOME our sins.

Satan's condemnation says we are sinners and will never change.

Don't listen to Satan's lies. He wants to steal your joy and peace of you let him.

Just remember God is stronger.
Dont listen to him ? its not that easy untill you get your periphial vision going he can dominate your thought process with holyness too meaning one side of the mind can switch of coz the more dominent side can take over..

I think its called the dark side of the mind.. thats satans doorway right there..

I cant express how important it is to see both sides of your surrounding whilst looking straight ahead for at least an hour or two a day it truly does let more light into your mind..

I just stop seeing bad in people alltogether no matter what..

So we have were talking about Covenant discipleship groups which means a group of people who hold each other accountable and on track based upon Biblical principles.

So one guy would come week after week and confess that he had trouble quiting smoking. Finally after months of hearing the guy talk about his trouble giving up smoking...one person said "Brother Bill, I will help you quit smoking. God has laid it on my heart to help you by giving up eating until you stop smoking."

The person telling it said it was rather heavy handed.

I asked if it worked. She said yes. The next week they guy came back and said he quit that day and hasn't desired one since.

Anyway Jimbo, sometimes people need help of the church family to overcome some sins.

God wants us to be free, not bondage to sin.

Yet he won't stop loving those who struggle.he will bring others along side them to help them overcome and learn His wisdom.

God tells us we are not alone and I think that is important. To love one another as God loves us.

Do you think God tells us all our sins all at once?

Or does He teaches and changes us one spiritual stronghold at a time?

Someone told me a story, let me see if I can remember it..,
Not sure thans even an answer do you think ?

I dont know about that how ever surely the holy spirit should convict you befor you sin ?

Yeah it's not easy because the world likes darkness more than light.

Only way I manage is by praying, reading the bible, listening to Worship music, fellowshiping with siblings, walking i, nature and praising God for His blessings....

Those all help me see God's light and love and truth instead of Satan's lies.

However sometimes I get discouraged and everything just is dark and gray. Its those times when God blesses me by sending a messenger and reminding me of His love...it can be a text from a friend,a hug from a child or a beautiful landing on my hand.

Little things that reminds me of God love and grace and beauty.

I think if we look at word convict as it's used in the NT and where Jesus says that "Holy Spirit must come to convict the world of its sin and that sin is unbelief in him"

AV (17) - reprove 6, rebuke 5, convince 4, tell (one's) fault 1, convict 1;

Conviction today carries a very heavy connotation. Guilty as charged.

Yes we are all guilty as charged before God.

I do believe however when the Holy Spirit convicts in the first instance it's to convince us that Jesus is who he says he is.

After we place our faith in Jesus then he reproves and rebukes us but never in a condemning manner.

A simple example from my experience is when he says to me "Hey Bill you didn't quite get that right did you, wanna talk about it, deal with it?

That actually melts my heart.

I walked for so long like this.

When I got it wrong these were my thoughts "Call yourself a Christian, your pitiful, God don't love you (that's the polite version)

Thats condemnation and it is not how God would speak to us. It took me a long time to realise I wasn't a twat (polite version) when I got it wrong.

It was only when I went through the process of renewing my mind that I am actually a child of God who loves me and wants the best for me and trusting in that then things started to change in me.

God gave us the Bible with all his laws and wisdom, but I am not smart enough to even understand 10% of what God tells us in it.

I guess I am trying to say we learn as we walk with God,

Like in school we learn numbers and how to add and substract before we can understand calculus.

Im not sure about that as the world cant live without light it knows that..
The earth is a living breathing life plannet.... it knows it needs light to survive.. its been around a lot longer than we have..

well at least the ones the holy spirit has convicted me of not to see bad in..amen..
I still see some bad in people but what I have learned is to see the Good God is working in them.

Does that make sense?

I see who they are but also who God wants them to be if they followed Him fully and were free of the lies that enslave them.

Truthfully I have a harder time seeing the Good in me than I do in others. I guess that is my weakness, but I don't seek "self esteem" I seek "God's esteem". I seek to see myself as God sees me.

That is very true the world can't live without light, but how many people give thanks to God for the rising sun each day?

like the old saying goes. "How good is good enough"
ALL I know is that while JESUS was on the earth with saved, immersed disciples and apostles who were identified as a church no less than two times Jesus said....

WHY do you call me good, there are NONE good but GOD.......the bible is replete with faithful men and women who had to confess sins and or sinned.....There is NOT a just MAN upon the earth that does GOOD and sins not.....NO ONE will ever be good enough to save themselves, keep themselves saved or earn their way into the kingdom.......our righteousnesses are as filthy RAGS and our iniquities like the wind have taken us away.........

The Enemy attacks all new believers by telling them lies like God doesn't really love them and they are unworthy because they aren't holy enough.

It's not until we become mature and rooted in Christ that we really find peace and trust in the fact that God really does love us.

Any good in us per se is the result of JESUS....I like the verse that states to not think more highly of ourselves than we should, but rather to condescend to men of low estate.....he who abases himself will be exalted in due time.....

You throw out grace like its the subject.. you can count and hope if you want... Faith and walking with Christ produces .. if you have nothing you're doing nothing but reading.. hearer only
Walking with Christ is the RESULT of God's working in grace (unmerited favour). But it is the grace of God which produces salvation, and NOTHING else (Rom 4.4-5; Eph 2.8-9).
