I read a article about guy that walks people...not dogs but people, for whatever reason many people dont like going on walks alone insecurity, safety, companionship whatever.

There is apparently a market for it because the guy is hiring employees now and he is going to branch out to different locals.

He's not a security guard just someone that will go on a walk with you and get payed for it, i imagine that being a great conversationalist is a requirement but he said that many people just enjoy having someone listen.
That's crazy! Get paid to walk, only in America.

Thats what i thought initially but i think that he started with senior citizens then his clientel grew to include everyone.

Spending time with senior citizens is a great service to society,my ma worked at a senior home all of her life and i saw how lonely it can be for seniors,i think that its terrible that many families will just put another human being on the shelf and forget about them.

I know a guy who makes about $1500 a month using phone apps.. and he also collects other random extra bits of money by using sites like swagbucks... I wouldn't say its exactly a stable source of income, but he does manage to make it work.

In this book that I'm reading called "The Mole People" about homeless people this guy buys cans and bottles from them at half price then sells them to the recycler at full price.

The recycling place is to far for them to go everyday and the waiting line is hours long so I guess that it's worth it for them, also the majority of them spend the cash on drugs so ...you know.

He makes thousands a day supposedly,he said that at first he felt bad like he was ripping them off but then he relates it to commodity traders that basically rip farmers off for their crops.

How hard up are you for money?

Not hard up at all! Don't view this thread as a request for charity, or that I'm unemployed. I was hoping for a few laughs and help with some ideas on how to be self employed. I'm pretty much just shaking tees and see what fruit comes down.

I like the recycler trader, seems like honest work to me. He is providing a service and makes a living off of it.

I like recycling idea :)

I think we arent ripping those people..
in my country, recycling company usually will have contract or minimum order they want to buy (usually 1 truck with some standard) and with payment method usually they will pay you per month but sometimes they can give you cash as well.. depending on your contract with them..

I dont know with plastic yet.. but i'm working with paper trash (buy and sell) well not me.. my parents did.. and i'm helping looking for buyer/company and paper stuff from internet.. so, those people actually know about prices and company but the MOQ and standard from company too complicated for them.. so they prefer the easy way.. so its win win solutions i think? :p

with house brokers i think you'll have to invest LOT on gas transportation when customer want to see location/house.. it will took sometimes before you finally can sell.. but once you can sell it will create good profit.. just not everyday you can sell.. ;)

Yep there's LOTS of money in recycling, here smart older folk that live on income that just covering the bills, they go around in their free time because they got lot's of it gathering recyclables.

Where I'm originally from they give more for mass weight than like individual bringing in bags so you'll see people with there whole front and back yards filled with crushed cans and bottles.

I mean like 12 ft stacks and such.

It's a shame that the only thing that will get people to clean up this world is profit.

Well, you can't pay the bills with good deeds.

I wish it was the case though...

Imagine this.....(think wavy lines of a new scene on t.v.)...You called the electric company and said, I fed the homeless, picked up trash on the side of the road, and left a small carbon footprint by being a vegetarian. So, my electric bill is paid by my good deeds. The lady on the other side of the phone would laugh and say, that's all good, but we still need the 150$ or were gonna charge you a late fee, and eventually cut your service off if you refuse to pay.

I ran into this guy at the tennis courts, he says, he buys school books at discount in the off season, and resells them full price to kids in the private schools that under cut retail prices. Seems like a solid idea. He also said, he hired his mom to do the work, and he just makes money off his mom doing the work.. This is hilarious. lol

Hmm... I remember when I was reading up on the asian carp problem, cause and possible solutions, fisheries said they could solve world hunger right now with all the asian carp, if somebody could work out the logistics. In other words, if somebody could find a way to pay them to catch and ship all that fish. Sounds cold-hearted, but it would also be cold-hearted to expect them to work at that while they starve and their own families are not provided for.

Oh yeah! That's another thing,if you happen to live where they have a lot of thrift stores with a excess of my books you might be able to make a lot off of used books.

Where I use to live there was this thrift store that had so many books that they never even checked them they would just put them in sections.

Paperbacks were .50 hard cover 1.00 , well someone was donating brand new books that were less than a month old.

Some of those hard covers can be like 20.00-30.00 well they would just put these in the 1.00 section, I took some and sold them on eBay for half the cover price making like 250% profit.

Also sometimes there were first editions of rare books that sold for good money.
