I think it will, and the scary part is that he also wants to make religion obsolute too. He wants to make death obsolete completely and he wants to creat avators to transfer our consiciounes from our biological body and transfer it to some avator. I am afraid it will happen and it will happen really really soon! Dmitry Itskov is a billionaire and he will do whatever it takes to make that happen! Would jesus even allow this? How would we get into the lords presence in heaven if they create something like this and force everyone to live forever? Help me God!

My college professor believes this is possible, and when I laughed at it and asked him how he got very upset and wouldn't explain it because he is above explaining it to me.

Even if possible, they can still die if I step on their hard drive or put a magnet on it, or God destroys it during the wrath.

What if all this process does, if possible, is create a copy of the person and the real person dies?

What if it's a completely agonizing when the person loses their body and senses and they experience "eternal" hell on earth?

Don't forget people are willing to freeze their brains and all kinds of other nonsense when their number is called, so I'm sure they will have plenty of genuine pigs. We can never be sure if whatever abomination is produced is the "real" person or a copy.

I just don't see how our complex body and consciousness, still far more advanced than any computer, is going to be housed/contained/emanate from a scrap of metal.

It's a sin against the Holy Spirit.

Hi Theo,

Do you read your bible on a regular basis? Are you a new Christian?

If you read the complete bible, you'll know this can't happen.

Is anyone more powerful than God?

God already banished us from the Garden of Eden; we can't even access the Tree of Life that would make us live forever on the earth. That was the whole point of banishing us from the garden in the first place. (Genesis 3:22-24)

Come on man, read Genesis. First book of the Bible. You've got to read the Word to be in perfect peace and not be easily fooled and swayed in every direction based on the silly things of this world.

This seems more like a promise (lie) from Satan to give people a false sense of security regarding death so they don't seek Christ to give them eternal life. I'll depart from the others now and tell you that many technological acheivements from mandkind like the moon landing, ISS, and space exploration are completely fabricated lies. So not only are we much less technologically savy than we are led to believe, but those leading us are liars. This brain in robot thing is promoted by these same crowds and there really is little reason to beleive such a thing is possible in this creation, and even if it was we do not have this kind of capability presently.

If God were to allow this swap to occur, and it can only occur if it's in His design, I think it would be a self-inflicted artifical hell on earth. Imagine if someone made you experience 40,000 years of solitary confinement within the program and it only took 5 minutes of earth time? What if you get a virus or a blue-screen of death and you go insane or develop computer dimentia or alzheimers? What if your memory card gets corrupted and you forget about your earthly life entirely and become some emotionless memoryless drone?

It's a fun thought experiment and scary to think about the types of suffering that would be possible in such a state, but it's too ridiculous for me to think it's possible and I believe the earth is flat. It's a thought experiment giving life by liars and the hopes and desires of atheists. I imagine the creator of this lie claims there isn't a soul (otherwise who would want to imprison it?) and that the brain is all we are, so it begins with a false premise and that should be your answer as to why it isn't true or possible. We are not monkey brains, we are not from this world.

No system is perfect. And when it comes to Murphy's law, anything can happen. A solar flare can interrupt computer systems. A virus could be planted in it. A critical part could get worn out, and then what? Take it off line to fix it when electricity is needed to keep it running or.. to keep it presumably alive?

Then God says this;

Hebrews 9:[SUP]27 [/SUP]And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

God said it; when it is your time to die, no one can create an escape to man made immortality when God appoints it is time.

The thing I have against Star Trek's transporter is that they cannot beam spiritual matter, and yet one is led to believe that after having been transported by deconstructing molecules and then reassembling them somewhere else, that they will not lose the soul that goes with that body?

So the same contention I would have for downloading memory ingrams into a computer. How can it transfer the soul of a man when they cannot even measure the soul of a man to see that transfer?

You have nothing to worry about. Jesus is Lord. Not science.

say i upload myself into a suitable bio-engineered framework.

then i press copy/paste and upload myself into a second one.

which one is me?

oh, and someone should probably ask the obvious question:

what is "
transhumanism" ??

what's the difference between wearing a wristwatch and tattooing a digital clock onto your arm with a sophisticated smart-ink?

is there one, fundamentally, beyond the amount of work a person would have to perform in order to put it on and to take it off?

Man has been ordained to die once, and then into judgement.

Im absolutely certain nothing will ever stop that from happening.

((very interesting connection, IMO, if you see it))

say i upload myself into three ((or more)) different bio-engineered hosts which can then act in concert or independently, such that my consciousness is distributed equally among the three and can also be expressed completely by each one, either simultaneously as though multitasking or part-by-part as though focusing attention.

would it be accurate in this case to call each of the three of me "me" and would it be accurate to say that i am still one person?
or would you call me three different people?

suppose further that each of my three distributed nodes each had certain traits and characteristics factored out so that they were identifiable as units distinguishable from one another, though the fundamental whole of my distributed consciousness remains unchanged.

would i be three people or one?
when you interacted with each of the nodes independently, would you think i am one person or three persons?
one unique individual expressed in three persons?

would it ever be accurate to say "that one is post, but the other two are not" ?

oh my, there can only be 'one-Post' - he's the one that tried the
original up-loading...:rolleyes:it would fail every time, only God can
create Spirit in man...

Mind transcends brain. Your consciousness is tied to a particular biological framework, and spent countless hours training the muscles through a very complex construct of nerve communications. Placing one brain into another vessel will not work. There has been no communication between the nerve network of that vessel and the brain that is being placed in it, and besides, the mind, the consciousness, is neither physical nor transferable. Jesus is the light and life of men. In Him we live and move and have our being. If you are not aligned with Him, your consciousness will end with the first death, until the resurrection and judgement of all, and then you will pass into the second death. Trying to circumvent the will of God is not going to work any better just because thousands of years have passed since the fall of creation when man first decided to try living according to his own ideas instead of God's. It should however help you get a better understanding of what the pride of life is, and how it operates when people attempt to play God, and how far people will go trying to escape the true purpose and meaning of life, which can only be found through Jesus Christ :)

Hi TK,

One very simple truth is that the wages of sin is death. We will all die because we are all sinners. Nothing that mankind can come up with will thwart what God has set in stone. The wages of sin will always be death.

Man fears death and dying, but not the Christian. We can say with great confidence, "Oh death, where is thy sting." For us, we will live eternally and the only way we can is through the cross of Jesus.

Also, God foils
mankind's plans when they go beyond the limitations set by God. For instance the tower of Babel or as has already been mentioned, we're barred from the tree of life so that we can't live forever with Jesus as our Lord and Savior.

A sinner can abuse their heart their entire life, and then get a heart transplant or mechanical heart (cheney). This is an extreme extension of that. It adds to the lifespan and sin potential of the vessel. Not saying it's possible, but examples exist of physical duct tape.

oh yes,

duck-tape and man's inventions, how well they go together!

It was a metaphor, and not between duct tape and inventions, but duct tape and our physical bodies:rolleyes:

Holding them together at the cost of our souls
