THE BEAR STORY

A n
atheist was walking through the woods.

'What majestic
trees!'

'What powerful rivers!'

'What beautiful
animals!'

He
said to himself.

As he was walking alongside the
>river, he heard

a
rustling in the bushes behind him.

He turned to look.

He
saw a 7-foot grizzly bear charge towards him.

He
ran as fast as he could up the path.

He looked over his shoulder & saw that

the
bear was closing in on him.

He looked over his
shoulder again, &

the
bear was even closer.

He tripped & fell on the
ground.

He rolled over to pick himself up but
saw

that
the bear was right on top of him,

reaching for him with his left paw &

raising
his right paw to strike him.

At
that instant moment, the Atheist cried out:

'Oh
my God!'

Time
stopped.

The bear froze.

The forest was
silent.

As a bright light shone upon the man,

a
voice came out of the sky.

'You deny my existence for
all these years,
teach
others I don't exist and even credit

creation
to cosmic accident.' 'Do you expect

me
to help you out of this predicament?'

'Am
I to count you as a believer?'

The atheist looked
directly into the light, and said:

'It
would be hypocritical of me to suddenly ask

you
to treat me as a Christian now, but perhaps

you
could make the BEAR a
Christian?'

'Very well', said the voice.
The
light went out. The sounds of the forest resumed.

And
the bear dropped his right paw, brought both

paws
together, bowed his head & spoke:

'Lord
bless this food, which I am about

to
receive from Thy bounty through

Christ
our Lord, Amen.'

haha! think I've heard this or something close it to before, that's great, I loved it! Thanks for sharing and God bless

i'm glad you liked it. I sure did! Especially since I've been feeling kind of in the way around here. It feels good to have given some good here.

In the way? never! I understand that feeling though, honestly I do. Keep on keeping on, and allow God to use you!

Maybe that was a bad choice of words. Up to A few days ago, I have been feeling like I am not welcome here. The strange part is that I do't know why I get that feeling now and then. But when I do It is so very intense.

I chuckled. I have read this one before, didn't even realize it until the end.

I didn't notice before, but I see that NRA emblem you have.
I am pleased to meet a fellow NRA member. :)

Not a member yet. Some day I will be.

Check my profile, you might like my list of links.

I plan on getting one if not all four of the follwing:

Ar-15
Smith & Wesson handgun 9mm (havn't chosen which)
remington tactical shotgun (havnt decided which)
and a standard rifle of some sort, probably a .22, probably from remington

I just saw your 17. I think you have to be at least 18 to be a member. I'm not sure about the AR 15. I think I would recommend the Mini 14 instead.

Is owning a weapon a pre-requisite? I do not currently own one, and will wait until after college for financial reasons.

I will look into a Mini 14.

With me it's: Remington 12 Gage shotgun, Pump action
Ruger 9 mm, Glock 9 mm (13 and 9 round )
S & W .357 Dan Wesson .357, Ruger .357
and Marlin .357 carbine. (I think it's a marlin) I will have to look at it again next time I am home
I also have a Ruger .22 carbine that I got as a graduation present years ago in 1981

Do you hunt? Sport?

I think that the best way to defend against criminals attempting to harm you in your home, is through gun ownership. Killing a human is never something we plan to do. It is sometimes necesary for the greater good.

I do not currently hunt. My father has sometimes talked about taking my brothers and I out to wester Kansas to hunt Pheasent. I personally like the idea of hunting, but I'm not sure if I would like the food. I'm a picky eater.

I did some clay pidgeon shooting once with a 20 gauge at H. Roe Bartle, it was fun. I liked it. It's something I'd like to continue doing later in life, maybe as a hobby.

Also did some .22 rifle shooting, but that's pretty wimpy.

I live in a "Right to Carry" State. I also have a permit to carry a concealed weapon. Mainly to send a message to the state legislature that Honest people have weapons too. So do my parents. Mom is now 80 and dad is 84. I almost shot a coyote a while ago when it thought my cat would be it's lunch. But it was faster than I thought and disappeared into the brush and since I believe in gun control, i didn't shoot. But I never saw it again so it is all good.

As for hunting, I have never done that as the need has never come my way. I should give it a try though when I get the time.

Here we don't have much problems with coyotes, you hear them in the creekbeds down the road. The problem here in my area of Missouri is opossums. Which my dad has used a 9mm carbine to kill countless opossums that eat out of our auto-feeder for our small herd of cats. They come up mangey and tore up, some appear to have rabies. So to keep from the cats giving us rabies, we shoot the opossums when we can. My dad owns about 6 or 7 guns, he's not real outspoken for gun rights, but he definitely isn't against them. We have a revolver, a smith and wesson pistol, and some rifles and shotguns.
