I was wondering what are some "friendly" words to say in tagolo?
as I said before I frequently went to a filipino household but unfortunately most the words I was "taught" were "bad" words to say,but I do know a few,good,solamat,(thank you,I think...) well sadly that's all that comes to mind what are a few "friendly" words to say to my filipino friends here in Tennessee that you would suggest?(preferably someone who knows the language not smart alec jokers)

Re: what are some of the "friendly"'words of tagolo?(not sure if spelled right)

it is Tagalog :)
Magandang Araw= Beautiful day! You can use this to greet someone in the morning and early afternoon....

Magandang umaga = Good morning
Magandang hapon = Good afternoon
Magandang gabi = Good evening

If you love a Filipino girl :D you can say to her

Mahal kita = I love you

But you can say "Mahal kita " to your mama,papa,siblings,neighbors and everybody

If your friend invited you to eat dinner,breakfast or lunch or when your friend brings food for you and after you have eaten or tasted the food and you like it you can say...

Ang sarap nito = This is delicious

I would give the others the chance to comment :D

Take care = Ingat or ingat ka

thanks some of these do sound familiar,though the language itself is so fast here,I could hardly figure what was being said,I hope more will share,because it's kinda bugged me I know at least 10-20 filipino nice people yet I hardly know what to say,though they speak english,I was curious what words I could say in "their" language so as to be more "polite".

Kumusta ka? = how are you?
Mabuti = im fine
Anong pangalan mo? = what's your name?
Saan ka pupunta? = where are you going?
Pangit = ugly
Maganda= beautiful

Pangit is not really a friendly word but if a filipino offends you, you can call him pangit. JK.

When I was stationed in Hawaii while serving in the Navy back in the 80's, I knew several people who were filipino. I noticed when they became very upset about something, they would shout out a bad word that ended in "nam." :eek: Never was sure exactly what it meant though.

I recognize the words "Mahal kita" and "Maganda" from the lists below. Those are nice words. :)

I feel kinda guilty because as an eager child I used the "bad"'words on my uncle,to be funny,he gave me the oddest look lol,the elderly woman who taught me,was named Christina,and boy did she like teaching those words,come to think of it I remember now that out of her phrases,Ecow means you,everything else was focused on us Americans being stinky lol!
