The "futurist" "theologies" claim the "end is near" by alluding to Jesus' statement about wars and rumours of wars among other bogus "signs":
Mat 24:6 KJV And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
Since the Pax Roman ended there have been continual wars and rumours of wars.
From wiki:
Pax Romana (Latin for "Romanpeace") was the long period of relative peacefulness and minimal expansion by the Roman military force experienced by the Roman Empire after the end of the Final War of the Roman Republic and before the beginning of the Crisis of the Third Century. During this time, the Roman empire reached its peak land mass area and its population grew up to 70 million people.[1] Since it was established by Augustus, it is sometimes called Pax Augusta. Its span was approximately 206 years (27 BC to AD 180), from the time of Augustus becoming emperor to the death of Emperor Marcus Aurelius.[2]
In fact, the "Pax Romana" was broken by the First Jewish–Roman War, the Kitos War (also in Judea, 115–117), the Bar Kokhba Revolt (also known as the Third Jewish–Roman War), the Roman–Parthian War of 58–63, Trajan's Roman–Parthian War of 113, and Boudica's war in Britain in AD 60 or 61.

The facts are that the Pax Romana was broken by one of the very things that Jesus stated would happen, the destruction of the temple and the sack of Judea and Jerusalem in the war of 66-70 AD:
Note Jesus' words:
Luke 23:29 KJV For, behold, the days are coming, in the which they shall say, Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bare, and the paps which never gave suck.
Luke 23:30 KJV Then shall they begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us; and to the hills, Cover us.
Luke 23:31 KJV For if they do these things in a green tree, what shall be done in the dry?
The "green tree" represented the relative calm of the Pax Romana, the "dry", the period of war in 66-70 AD.
It also has to be noted that prior to the above statement by Jesus he also said:
Luke 21:20 KJV And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.
Luke 21:21 KJV Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto.
Luke 21:22 KJV For these be the days of vengeance, that ALLthings which are written may be fulfilled.
Notice the companion statement in Revelation with Luke:
Rev 6:16 KJV And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide usfrom the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:
Luke 23:30 KJV Then shall they begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us; and to the hills, Cover us.
This is no coincidence, this theme is thoroughly "Jewish/Israel" in concept:
Hosea 10:8 KJV The high places also of Aven, the sin of Israel, shall be destroyed: the thorn and the thistle shall come up on their altars; and they shall say to the mountains, Cover us; and to the hills, Fall on us.
Isa 2:19 KJV And they shall go into the holes of the rocks, and into the caves of the earth, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth.
There can be no doubt that the scene in the book of revelation is alluding directly to Jesus' prophecy of the destruction of the temple and Jerusalem in the 1st century AD
