good question

i think he means
if it doesnt pertain to salvation

why is it worth fighting over
(not discussing... but arguing over)

2 Timothy 2:24 - And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all [men], apt to teach, patient,

Proverbs 15:1 - A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.

Philippians 2:14 - Do all things without murmurings and disputings:
Again, you prove yourself to be so much more aware than many of CC. So many people can't figure out that "inconsequential" means "having no particular consequence."

For instance, covered hair, or silence in Assemblies, or a thousand-and-one other inconsequential things people get all twisted-up about.

It IS important, though, Willie, that men part their hair on the left side of their head.

Hey............... We all know those seriously Salvation-oriented things would never be questioned. Send the "Right-Parters" straight to Hell.

I know what you mean, Willie...

I just like messin' with ya sometimes. :p

We may not always agree on things.

Nonetheless, I still like you a lot.

You are a very likeable fellow.

However, I also think MM's question is valid. There is no such thing as [ completely ] "inconsequential" scripture.

Every word of it was written for our "consumption" --- so that we may better understand our God and His ways...

What about the "No-Parters"...?

Uh, what is consequential about Judges 3:21 and 22? (And I could keep this up all day long... there are so many Scriptures that really make no differences in our lives, if we read them or not.)

Why do you (any of you) care whether or not someone else understands inconsequential Scripture "correctly?"
For instance, covered hair, or silence in Assemblies, or a thousand-and-one other inconsequential things people get all twisted-up about.
Hmm... I don't know for sure. Some probably for the sake of having correct doctrine. Ya never know what seemingly insignificant small matter can spiral into some serious error. I don't know if anyone remembers this person but me, but there was one lady on CC who even got to questioning her faith over some Salvation-irrelevant verses in Song of Solomon. I think in circumstances like that, the inconsequential Scriptures should be addressed, lest anyone else reading fall into the same trap. (And of course, the focus should be brought back to the Gospel!)

But among the saved, when there is no reasonable cause to believe that a soul is at stake...probably just to feel good about being right. :p

I have already answered it.

Every word of it was written for our "consumption" --- so that we may better understand our God and His ways...
As strange as this may sound --- the more you study the Word of God, the 'deeper' things go -- and, more-and-more of the [ seemingly ] "inconsequential" passages / verses have meaning and significance...

You have a point there. And, those things can be addressed as people who might be confused, bring them up. Harping on them when no one seems to be bothered or affected by them seems a little self-centered.

Oh, I don't think anything should be done about it. I think freedom of speech is marvelous, and I am of the mindset that nothing should be off limits except posts that are sexually explicit or posts that are physically threatening to another user, or posts that are racist. Other then that, let it be a free for all. Censorship should be at the bare minimum. If people get upset, then they should stay out of the forum or find the threads they like. It's really not that difficult.
