concerning my simple question, have you noticed that many people dodge answering this question??
either because they have not taken the time to read the bible or they don't like reading bible,I often notice this alot, not only in other people but concerning my old self, sometimes asking some little simple questions can tell you how someone is doing "spiritually"!

2 Corinthians 4

Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not; 2But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God. 3But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: 4In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. 5For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake. 6For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

7But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. 8We aretroubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; 9Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; 10Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body. 11For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus' sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh. 12So then death worketh in us, but life in you.
13We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak; 14Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present uswith you. 15For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God.
16For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. 17For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; 18While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen aretemporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

I've notice that too. Personally I try to read the bible regularly, but there's regularly some extreme problem in my everyday life I have to deal with. The most I end up reading lately are random Psalms and Proverbs and whatever God seems to want me to read that day.

well better to read some of the bible than none at all, even if it is just psalms or proverbs you still can learn by studying those book chapters out after reading them, for any words In God's word are important!

Reading is one thing, how many actually meditate on what they read?

I find at times the greatest study is taking 1 chapter and mediating on a passage of verses for 5-7 days....

For example:

Colossians 1.9-12, I spent 7 days feasting on this passage.....I personalized the passage with pronouns...

[SUP]9 [/SUP]For this reason also, since the day we heard of it, we have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that I may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, [SUP]10 [/SUP]so that I will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; [SUP]11 [/SUP]strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for the attaining of all steadfastness and patience; joyously [SUP]12 [/SUP]giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified ME to share in the inheritance of the saints in Light.

Vs 13-14
[SUP]13 [/SUP]For He rescued ME from the domain of darkness, and transferred ME to the kingdom of His beloved Son, [SUP]14 [/SUP]in whom I have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

this is eating the meat of the word IMHO...

I know people that read the whole Bible in a year and still have no idea what it is about...

Those are some of my favourites! If I didn't consciously try to get a balanced spiritual diet, I might spend all my time on Psalms and Proverbs and James. I read James every Saturday. Do you find it difficult to find time to read the rest of the Bible, or do you make sure to read the other Books as well?

Yes, I do read/study other books as well....It is pretty easy to get through Psalms , Proverbs and Ecclesiastes each month as a daily "reading"...There are 150 Psalms, 31 Proverbs and 12 Ecclesiastes so you can read[give or take depending on the days in the month] 5-6 Psalms a day, 1-2 Proverbs a day and Ecclesiastes twice. Psalms , Proverbs and Ecclesiastes are my daily Bible "reading" not absorbing/meditating or study....I was led by the Spirit about 10 years ago to try to memorize a lot of the Psalms , Proverbs and Ecclesiastes, so I got busy doing it and failed....the Spirit said...just break it down and read it every month....I have found the word to be alive and powerful and each month I get something totally new and have inadvertently memorized a lot of them....

Currently I am absorbing/meditating on the Epistle of Colossians[Which is one of the best books in the Bible]Last month I did Galatians, I spent 3 months last year doing Romans...another 3 months last year doing Isaiah....this is not study but absorbing, meditating and making the word personal to me to renew my mind to the word. Not for gain, but for spirit and life...

I am studying for future sermons/messages on the Battle of Life, so I am looking at a lot of Joshua, Judges, 1/2 Samuel, 1/2 Kings 1/2 Chronicles and seeing how they are fulfilled in the NT to give practical application to our folks for today battles...

I am also busy writing course outlines for classes I will teach this fall on 4 different topics....

I preach, teach and I am an elder of pastors so my mileage/motivation may be far different than others...

all apart of enduring til the end for Jesus's name sake, making time for God in our busy or not so busy lives, and thereafter hopefully try to lead others to God by way of bible scriptures and the holy spirit.
