I liked the picture so much, it just seemed to fit the shocking nature of some comments,
you got to laugh.
If maybe you did not know, laughter is linked to shock and unexpected statements.
When they are too absurd, the miss-match makes us laugh.
So for instance EG saying Fran does not know what salvation and the gospel is, is
a joke at any level. You have to have something wrong to say this, let alone think
it is just hillarious. It is so pompous, superior, judgemental, hypocritical, almost
meaningless and without foundation.
It is the cartoon character who believes so strongly they know who is and who is
not acceptable, it is just like the legalists at the door of the church tutting at the
wrong dress code, but a different version, with the wrong word order, or wrong
set of ideas. You will hear cart before the horse analogies, or some long convoluted
explanation how because of this, they are right and the other side are wrong.
And when you want facts, there are only these emotional subtleties, nuances that
come out. But you have to be a believer to actually understand them.
It is like an in joke, it only works on those on the inside.
A telltale is how many times a sermon says "those people say" but we say, as a
contrast. It is a kind of approval idea, think like this and not that, or you will be
rejected from the group. Talk about brainwashing 101, but it leads to this non-discussion
and just flow of feeling.
It is how you kill critical thinking, which is a part of walking in Christ.
Jesus was surprised at the pharisees and their approaches. He realised that
their hypocracy permeated their whole teaching and lives, so the words could be
right, most of the time, but everything got distorted into a failed worldly system
of conventions and no love or emotional reality.
