If you could go back to anytime in History where would you go and why?

I personally would go back to when Jesus blessed this Earth with his presence, and ask him for a hug. :D

Patmos, Greece. 1st century A.D. Pick John's brain about what he saw til he was ready to find a whale's belly!

My first thought was to the time of Jesus' ministry, but then I realized the danger of having to witness the crucifixion. How horrible that would be.

It would be cool to see Atlantis in it's prime (if it really existed).

OR

Dinosaurs would be really cool to see. But then they might eat me, so no probably not that. I'll stick with Atlantis.

Lol, well I'd like to come back before the crucification, because I would want to stop it and that would obviously mess up everything. :D But both Atlantis and the dinosaurs would be super cool to see.

lol grif.

You make a good point though, much of history is somewhat unsafe :p

I'd try to find a time and place where they'd train me to fight with a real sword.

Someplace during the Renaissance/Reformation Era that didn't experience war.

Yes, that's a tall order.

I didn't think there was a time when war didn't exist, except the cave man days. Lol

And I would love to see Florence anytime!

But you have places that go generations without having any battles or armies marching through though they may not technically be "at peace" from a political standpoint.

The state of Maine has not seen state-organized bloodshed since the War for Independence. Even then, very little of the war was fought there except for a couple of skirmishes and an attempt at seizing a British fort in Acadia.

It's an awesome sort of crossroads. I think I would walk away with a better understanding of both the medieval and the modern world.

After that, I'd like to go to Augustine's Carthage. Experience the transition between classical antiquity and medieval times.

That's about what I was thinking.

Colonial period. I think that the colonization of the New World must have been a bit like the space race, only...useful :p

Hey, I'm just glad I'm not the only one who would go somewhere other than a Bible time/location.

I figure I'll have an eternity with Jesus anyhow. It's kind of my rationale about the Holy Land. Why go there now with all the turmoil when I know I'll likely see it in all it's glory after I'm dead?

It has always been one of my favorite places to read about in history, because there is so much happening in it! And amid all the chaos, God steadily builds His church.

I never looked at it like that. And I wouldn't just go back to biblical times, I'd like to go back to the Beethoven days as well!

I consider this one of the highest forms of praise even if that is not the intention. Thank you. :p ;) :D
