Anyone have any experience with the 10mm? I’m an avid backpacker and have been living and hiking in Colorado for many years. A buddy of mine is wanting to go on a one week trip up in the mountains of Montana. While we have a lot of black bear out here, it’s the bigger browns further up north that concern me. I do almost always carry when heading into the woods.
I will usually pack an SP101 in .357 mag. However, I wonder if I shouldn’t pick up a little more firepower before the trip. Five rounds with a fairly sharp recoiling “medium powered” revolver may not be the optimal choice when in Griz country. I’ve been shooting since I was a young boy so I’m very familiar with various firearms and calibers. For some reason though, it seems the 10mm has always eluded me.
I’ve seen a trend among Alaskan outdoorsmen who are starting to carry 10mm semi auto pistols rather than your typical heavy big bore revolvers. I’d rather not have to hike around with a boat anchor, and I feel the 10mm is sufficient…so long as it is reliable. I’m currently torn between a Glock 20 or an EAA Witness. If anyone has experience with either of these two, or could make a recommendation, I’d appreciate it.

I've heard that the Glock 10mms are good. A friend of a friend supposedly saved his life with one of them.

I doubt a any other pistol round would have done much better unless he decided to truck a .500 Magnum with him.
Again, I think a huge advantage with the Glocks are what you point out- the weight. You get a lot of extra firepower for very little weight. I'm guessing for a woods walk, you'll be carrying OWB on a good gun belt. The thing would be darn near weightless and give sufficient piece of mind.

Also he asked at the top this not be a debate thread because there is another thread for that and you just come in here and debate and lie at that. This shows no maturity on your part. And our second amendment right was not so we can make holes in cans. It was to keep us from falling under dictatorship like yours and to keep your gov away from us. They are trying to make us all slaves like you are and our firearms are the last defense we have.
