Someone explained it as the more rep points you have the greater the rep points you can give. I hope this helps.

Well if i recall every every 100 rep points you get you get a rep power
i have over 100 so if I rep you then odds are your rep power will increase by one, though I may be wrong on the amount required to gain a rep power

Seems to be working. Remember, rep powers only increase by one power for each 100 rep points accumulated. Besides, you're a reputable guy.

You are absolutely correct Blain. If you gave a rep than at the very least the person awarded the rep points would increase their rep power by at least one, and possibly by 2 depending on their accumulated rep points that were over a multiple of 100.

As of 7-27 10:44pm est you have 55 rep lol.

I have received rep and not have it register for weeks at a time as well, so you're not alone.

I gave you some rep worth 241 rep points, with the amount of rep points you had above a multiple of 100 plus the 241 resulted in an increase of 3 points. It's not so bad if you think about it. :)

If I remember correctly

Rep power is really just your power to give rep to others,
it is increased by

- nr of posts
- the rep power of the one(s) repping you
(and how many years you've been here also I think)

Jaime, if you go to "Settings" you will see a number just above the Rep Comments. That number goes up by the rep power the person who gives you a rep has. You now have sixty rep power. So if you give someone a rep, their number will go up by sixty. If they were already at a number above forty, that will increase their rep power by one when they enter the next hundred count. If their number was below forty, you giving them a rep will not increase their rep power. You can get ten reps and not have your power move if the people repping you have little rep power themselves. Is that confusing? Once you have one hundred rep power, every time you rep someone, their rep power will increase by one at least. Again, it depends on the number the other person has above their comments, because it could go up by two. They are two separate numbers. When you hit two thousand posts you will also get another rep, and on your anniversary also. If you pay attention to that number in your settings, you can guess who gave you an anonymous rep by finding a person who has the rep power that matches how much your number went up.

Right :) So the next person giving you a rep will add to your rep power IF they have at least 12 rep power themselves, to bring you to the next one hundred mark. If the next person to rep you has under 12 rep power, your rep power will remain unchanged. If someone reps you and they have 112 or more, your rep powers will go up by two!

one thing about rep for me is that if i receive I always like to know who gave it and so when I give it I am courteous and put my name it though people who know could probably tell just by wording lol
