Im not condemning anyone, just revealing the truth of scripture to you...you are the one who makes the choice as to where you go, heaven or hell, by your own works do you choose, I don't choose for you.........be blessed
You don't reveal the truth of scripture to me. I rely on the Holy Spirit for that.. Your understanding of a works salvation is actually hiding the truth of the gospel. You get an A for effort but an F for revealing the truth.

Is there any mention of a stony heart in the NT Magenta?

Grandpa or Grace 7 is better at this explanation than I would be. It's a new revelation yet to me. I could find that post probably that revealed this to me if absolutely needed. But would prefer another teach this.

Not all commentaries have all revelation. For us in these latter days, and for the race? We need His revelation. And He is at work! ;)

I said revelation a lot didnt I? Lol
Here ya go Magenta. I hope it blesses you as it did me.

And it's not off topic.

Grandpa's posts from the thread Sabbath; two posts numbers 1784 and 1787. Two weeks ago.

The fruit of the Spirit is NOT called the works of the Spirit for a reason.

Neither is works of the flesh the same as works of the law.
.if you would read the Bible without your preconceived notions you would see there is a distinction made for a reason.

Here I will highlight some verses you seem to like to skip in your reading of Galatians in order to make works necessary according the the Gospel of Fran.
*****

You twist the Bible to fit your theology that works are required to stay saved.

Faith is all you need to become a child of God.

Then God works in you to produce fruit by teaching you how to walk with Him.

On your walk with God, He may bless you to do good works for others or he may not. You may be the person receiving the good works done by others.

It's all in God's hands.

If you see an opportunity to do good. Pray and then do it.

Why you do good works is MORE IMPORTANT than outward actions.

You can do good works outwardly that are just filthy rags if you think they earn or maintain your salvation.

Good works are only truly good if they are done because it is God's will and for His glory alone....not because you expect payment or punishment, but because you know God's love and want to share it with others.

If you don't understand that I will keep you in prayer, but won't waste any more words in dialog with you.

Ignatius of Antioch
A Disciple of John the Apostle

You should read some of his writings. You'd realize how far we've come from
True Christianity...

CHAPTER 14

14:1
None of these things is hidden from you, if ye
be perfect in your faith and love toward Jesus Christ,
for these are the beginning and end of life -- faith
is the beginning and love is the end -- and the two
being found in unity are God, while all things else
follow in their train unto true nobility.

14:2 No man professing faith sinneth, and no man
possessing love hateth. _The tree is manifest from its
fruit;_ so they that profess to be Christ's shall be
seen through their actions.

For the Work is not a
thing of profession now, but is seen then when one is
found in the power of faith unto the end.

This is not at all what the Bible or Jesus said...I have no idea why you stated this, but it is not true at all...John 15 makes it very clear we are to lead fruitful lives and bear much fruit, Jesus even produced Fruit and said he would in John 12....

The idea that we also cannot discern by the Holy Spirit who is not saved and who is also a lie. Jesus said clearly we would know people by their fruit.

Easy believing loves to say...gee Wally, I really do no know who is saved and who is not because grace does not judge another....

Judging and spirit led discernment are 2 very different things. We do not know the difference because the emphasis is on easy believing and only the passive works of Christ in a Believer.....this removes the need for the Holy Spirit to be anything in the believers life, except for a .49 stamp of redemption. This is also why easy believing says no fruit is needed, because they seem have forgotten that Gal 5.22-23 says it is the fruit of the SPIRIT......

If the Holy Spirit has no work in the life of the believer other than being a .49 cent stamp of redemption, then of course you can say...their is no fruit needed and not every believer will live a fruitful life, because you remove all the responsibility for Spiritual growth, maturity and fruit bearing from the Holy Spirit.....and then claim...Jesus is passively working in me and I can sit back and not have to do anything to help myself spiritually grow, mature and bear fruit....PLEASE NOTICE I DID NOT SAY TO STAY SAVED.....

This is why this whole stupid thread is still alive....We have so far removed ourselves from the responsibility to work with Christ and the Holy Spirit to spiritually grow, mature and bear fruit AFTER SALVATION.....we stagnant into onward Christian Soldiers that defend doctrine and tradition, instead of being Onward Christian soldiers empowered by the Holy Spirit to take back what the enemy has stolen and to be used by the Holy Spirit to destroy the yoke, lift the burden and change the life....

Some of you are so abysmally blinded by passive work alone doctrine, you really would have no clue how to advance the kingdom....so you advance doctrines, traditions and engage in bloviation to hide the fact you really have no clue or idea what you should be doing now that you partook of the free gift....and this is a discerning sign that full surrender has never really taken place, because if it has there would be no more pride left to defend.....

This goes for both sides of this foolish thread.....

can we please move on from the elementary doctrines about the Christ, stop laying down the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, of instruction about washings and laying on of hands, and the resurrection of the dead and eternal judgment!?!?!
Meggido,

I've studied the early church fathers. Very little, I might say, since the works are great and it would be almost a full time job to get through them.

I'm speaking about when the church was pure, pre-Augustine.

I can say this... The changes and doctrine that have entered into the church are staggering and upsetting.
We don't really know anymore what those that lived with Jesus thought, and those who came directly after them.

Anyone could read them.... they're online.
Ignatius of Antioch is one
Polycarp is another.

That would be a good start.
Christianity is hardly recognizable anymore...

We can know when apostasy began and what we need to heed by scripture. The words of Paul...

Act 20:27 for I never shrank from telling you the whole plan of God.

Act 20:28 Pay attention to yourselves and to the entire flock over which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers to be shepherds of God's church, which he acquired with his own blood.

Act 20:29 I know that when I'm gone savage wolves will come among you and not spare the flock.

Act 20:30 Indeed, some of your own men will arise and distort the truth in order to lure the disciples into following them.

Act 20:31 So be alert! Remember that for three years, night and day, I never stopped tearfully warning each of you.

Act 20:32 "I am now entrusting you to God and to the message of his grace, which is able to build you up and secure for you an inheritance among all who are sanctified.

Act 20:33 I never desired anyone's silver, gold, or clothes.

Act 20:34 You yourselves know that I worked with my own hands to support myself and those who were with me.

Exactly what I thought....as a matter of fact.......he can be easily identified by what he stood for.....I am sure that many would have said....Do you know who Gamaliel is and what he stood for.....or MAYBE SAUL and the great work he is doing for God ridding the world of this sect called Christianity..........the bible has the final say....!

LOL, so who taught you how to read? Or did you teach yourself?

So using the Biblical account of Noah, was Noah saved by believing God told him to build an ark? or by building the ark?

By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house;

So did Noah read it in the Bible that God was going to flood the earth since faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God?

Silly Billy checking in.

None of us know it all.

We just post what we think we know or understand to be true.

Silly Billy checking out.

One thing I do know is that Jesus died for me, forgave my sins, reconciled me back to God because I have placed my faith, my life and my very being in him. He is in me and me in him.

Everything I am I give to him and everything I am not I give to him and I know that is what he wants.

And yet at times I have felt God say to me "Don't be silly Billy (words to that affect)

Silly Billy over and out

Christianity is hardly recognizable anymore...
It's true.
The sad part is it's right on the pages of our Bibles but we can't see it.

I blame the leadership of the church in general for the state of the church. They are the ones who must give an account for their leadership. But even then, many in leadership are simply teaching what they themselves have been taught in Seminary, and don't have the time to have a personal relationship with God in the Word to learn the real truth themselves. They're just as indoctrinated as the sheep are.

I don't know why I posted here again, lol. This is easily the worst thread I have ever seen in twelve years of on-line forums. I feel stained just checking into it now and again to see the same ol' blind rhetoric of the fruitless salvation crowd. Honestly, stained. It's a grievous thread that should be shut down by a moderator, but I know there is no moderation in this forum (and too much in another forum, but that's another story...).

Ephesians 4:22-24 is one such:

You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

It does seem to be a recurring theme throughout Paul's' epistles, without the explicit mention of the stony heart, so surely there are many others, and yes, also a theme that Grace expounds upon often. Jesus calls Peter a stone, and Peter in turn calls us living stones building up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood; those who receive and overcome by faith are given hidden manna to eat and a white stone with a new name written upon it. Jesus Himself is the cornerstone. It is a metaphor used in many different ways to convey the heart of the gospel Truth: we need God and His leading through love to turn us from sin.

Are you arguing in favor of Willybob revealing the truth of the scriptures to me? That being answered I fail to see your point.

How would you describe this fruit? Are these the works or fruit of one saved? Just asking seeing how you place such heavy emphasis upon fruit and works proving who we are....Both A and B on the list equal willful sin.....

a. Speaking evil of those in charge (moderators)
b. Judging and condemning based upon saying we are fruitless --->even though we all had stated a saved child of God will bear fruit just that fruit/works do not keep saved (Slander and false witness)
c. Double emphasis upon "stained"--->Regardless of views there have been a multitude of scripture quoted and referenced

I agree PHart.
But both sides must be told.
All evil needs to flourish is for good to do nothing.

What is interesting, and I'll say it here, is that the easy believism crowd is rather stingy with
posting of scripture. Maybe because deep down they know scripture is not with them.
Many comments, nothing of substance. Mean and arrogant remarks. I fail to see the love
of God in them.

To ACCUSE Christians of wanting to do works must truly mean that we are at the end.
Not only does the secular world accuse Christians, but Christians accuse those who want to do good!
Then I have to hear if I know who Gamaliel is. Incredible.

Nothing will stop the work of God.
But MAN has been very good at corrupting it.

There are some here that need help. They are being corrupted by
false doctrine and false concepts and false Christianity.

That's all I'll say...

I know Mr Phart and have had many a conversation with him.
We haven't agreed all the time and the main thing is OSAS (Mr P correct me if I am wrong)

I would say that that from my understanding is that he recognises that a genuine believer can and will struggle with sin, not walk correctly, be ensnared and get it wrong, but if they are trusting in Jesus for forgiveness and salvation they will be saved but they want to change and become more like Jesus.

Willful sin is to reject Jesus and go back to the law. Reject his sacrifice and reject our initial placement of faith in him.
