Time for personal testimonies that give glory to/by the power of our Lord Jesus Christ.

In our past, everyone of us has had something that we proudly identified ourselves with that defined who we were in our own heart. These idols, the physical things we posses, or self identity, could be all classified as idols in our heart.

Ezekiel 14:3-7 KJV
3 Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their heart, and put the stumblingblock of their iniquity before their face: should I be enquired of at all by them?
4 Therefore speak unto them, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; Every man of the house of Israel that setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to the prophet; I the Lord will answer him that cometh according to the multitude of his idols;
5 That I may take the house of Israel in their own heart, because they are all estranged from me through their idols.
6 Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord God; Repent, and turn yourselves from your idols; and turn away your faces from all your abominations.
7 every one of the house of Israel, or of the stranger that sojourneth in Israel, which separateth himself from me, and setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to a prophet to enquire of him concerning me; I the Lord will answer him by myself:

My testimony as follows, long after I received the salvation of Christ.

What I have had to repent of was a mindset that thought everybody had to accept me for who I thought I was because I was just as important as the next guy or gal. When the grace of God taught me that I didn’t deserve anything, I began to recognize my own self-established idol. I found that I had no power to destroy my own idols until after being “born again.” This change of heart enabled me to see the greater love from God that I had always wished for. Now I’m continuing to grow in His grace.

To the reader of this thread. Please feel free to give your own heartfelt testimony on this subject.
What idols have you had to destroy by the power of God because of your repentant heart through Christ Jesus.

I was being told this too, for a long time.. that idol can be practically everything that is consuming my time or my priority.

I am not sure of this explanation anymore...

I understand (I think). If we are consumed with the Word of God, then I would say that consuming is not an idol, but is actually worship.

I was the opposite. Didn't think of myself at all as a person of worth. It was seeing that there's no condemnation on anyone of us in His body, that set me free.

I had a lot of those who threw stones. :) Thankfully they killed me in a way.

Bravo!! That's the way. You are further ahead than I am.

"I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me." (Galatians 2:20 KJV)

well, not really. We all need to reckon it's so daily.

I just mean't I forgave. It's quite a story. Maybe some day will post it all when the one I am praying for is restored. Don't ask. :)

With me I'm someone who grew up loving sports, especially soccer and basketball, it's been a struggle to let go of watching/following sports, but I've identified them as idols that need to go from my life.

Above that I've been praying that I would have the fruits of the spirit in my life.

I believe that too, of course if God is consuming your life/time He is your God and not an idol.

Wow!!
I also feel the Spirit too.
I idolized my mother, who just passed on recently. Until I was born again and realized that.....let me not say it. May her soul rest in peace.
With the grace of God am saved and a born again through the spirit of Christ. It's a wonderful feeling!

I won't ask. With Vietnam and rejection, I'm still wrestling with complex PTSD, but now that I'm convinced that I am owed nothing, I have a much greater admiration and appreciation for our Saviour, because of being given the opportunity to be a member of His family/kingdom. He told me only once that I was His son. I heard Him in an audible voice when everything had fallen to pieces in my life. I'll never forget that moment.

Every thing 'worldly', duh!? the most intense and hardest thing that will ever be required of us...
our very 'first-breath', being forced to 'take-in' his, satan's breath!!!

I believe that my idol was myself.. I judged myself a good person and would tell God that at the gates of heaven....until the Truth came.... I was condemned and had not received and believed the Good news.

i was truly broken in to pieces... oh what a wretch I was.... being born again made New inwardly by a Gracious and Merciful GOD to love and serve Him.

I went about to tell people.... buying Bibles to give to those in unbelief... believing everyone was looking for the light.. it was surreal how people were not interested in the Gospel preferring to sit in darkness.

I'm humbled to of been chosen and so underserving but that is How Gracious and Merciful GOD is... if the lowest like me can partake then Glory to the Almighty GOD.

We die die to our self and live by Faith that worketh love.

We die die to our self and live by Faith that worketh love.

In these current times that we live in today, I am saddened by the profound lack of desire of the masses that bear fruits of not really caring about the real Truth that we have been given by the Word of God, all of it. Man's traditions and desires seem to take precedence like idols buried deep in the heart of the human race. In this life and this body that we are born into, we should be striving to mature in the knowledge and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Cell phones have also become idols of the heart to many people. Technology has done much damage to personal camaraderie.

"And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall
(little by little) wax cold." (Matthew 24:12 KJV)

"Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear. But the word of the Lord was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken." (Isaiah 28:9-13 KJV)

"But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen." (2 Peter 3:18 KJV)

Good personal witness and a very good read.
Kim Jong Un is a Hindu atheist depicted by his haircut. This is a depiction of self worship. Atheism in Hinduism. Atheism (Sanskrit: निरीश्वरवाद, nir-īśvara-vāda, lit. "statement of no Lord", "doctrine of godlessness") or disbelief in God or gods has been a historically propounded viewpoint in many of the orthodox and heterodox streams of Hindu philosophies. ... Hinduism is a religion, but also a philosophy.

Kim Jong Un worships his own family heritage as being divine.

God has to keep me from wicked imaginations... and then from idolatry in looking to some fantasy girl to imagine myself to relate to and be with in looking to her for example in her heroism and love for others in spite of being lustful in appearance on the outside. With all eyes on her... is what I am going through, not because of being good looking which I am not, but Biblically as the Psalmist goes through the same thing with the wicked watching his every step, but the oppression seems so absurd and their subtle persecution that informs me of my constant alienation tempts me to withdraw inward to escape.

But she is not real to look to for comfort, strength, encouragement let alone an escape when it sows to my flesh.

Only Jesus Christ can be my real escape, comfort, strength, and encouragement as my Friend to go to & example to follow by.... as obviously, I need His help to keep my eyes on Him in the midst of my storms in life including keeping me from my sins which one of them being an idol created out of my sinful heart to explain why all eyes are on her realistically because of lust when it seems so absurd for why all eyes are on me when I am not anything to look at, but targeted for mischief.

But the Lord pointed me to Baruch not to seek a life for myself as my enemies are the reasons why I cannot get a job, nor go to church, nor have a friend, let alone a girlfriend. I cannot go forth.

Indeed, I am grateful for the Lord that I am able to live with my folks, but I pray the day of the rapture is coming sooner than later because thanks to the Lord because of my enemies, I hate my life and I have no desire to stay thus no snare to hold me by... thankfully as I hope in Him that it continues that way when the Bridegroom comes to be willing to go with Him.

We all have our own personal battles. Spiritually speaking......"And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell." (Matthew 5:29)

1Sa 15:23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.

Why are you not sure when Scripture (1 John 2:15-17) confirms this? Love of anything and everything which is "in the world" is idolatry.

15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

16
For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

17
And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
