You're fine in my opinion, I think you are over analyzing this .....and come on if someone here takes this silly thread seriously they really need to learn how to take a joke. As DesertJoe would say...just sayin'...
In a way -- sure -- she is over-analyzing it. However, she has convictions about it -- which to me - says a lot.

Convictions and Principles can hardly be found one-without-the-other... ;)
Wild is absolutely correct in that I DO overthink things. Lol. I've been told that all my life.

But part of the reason WHY I overthink things so much is because I've been around people, both here and in real life, who do things with the BEST of intentions... and something goes horribly wrong, or people bring up problems that are never thought of. I'm always trying to out-think the problems in advance, though I know that's not possible.

Years ago we had a young female poster, about 20 years of age, who made a thread with her picture as the OP, asking everyone, "Am I Pretty?" But she was especially interested in feedback from the men.

One of the regular male posters then pointed out the awkward position it put him in, seeing as he was 37. He pointed out that guys might want to be encouraging of her as a sister in Christ, and it's true she was a legal adult, but it still created a questionable atmosphere. The thread was pulled and deleted not long after he pointed that out.

Gary is absolutely correct that one of our jobs as adults is to think things through and also protect our younger brothers and sisters.

Conversationand did an amazing job of injecting life and laughter into the forum, and I'd love to continue that.

And now I'm trying to think of a way to keep this ball rolling while being fair to those under 18... (Does anyone have any ideas?)

Now you've got me thinking of the complexities of just how complicated another Match Making thread would be.

Personally, I wouldn't be able to include people underage (which to me, is at least 18, if not 20) because I would never be pairing 14-year-olds up with supposed dates, even jokingly.

So then there would be an uproar over why isn't so-and-so included... And so then if we paired up two people with a 10- or 20-year age gap, then we'd get another round of protests saying, "Well you paired THEM up, so why not ME???"

This is why writing threads and even trying to have fun can get so complicated, folks.

And that's why I keep my mouth shut publicly to keep from getting in predictments such as this!!

Hmmm....not to exclude anyone but perhaps the kids could stay out of this one? Oh no, now I'm sounding mean....

Yes, see how complicated it gets?

I was thinking that the teens have not one, but two areas on the forum devoted completely to them (Teens and Young Adults) and that maybe they can all start their own "joking around" matchmaking threads there?

But somehow, it doesn't seem all that appropriate to encourage them to do that.

I don't think anyone should get offended by leaving out our underage pals. Naturally we have a shortage of young men ( that I know of ) so there is no one to match our young ladies with. Simple :)

These days, it definitely takes guts to even make a post.

You're bound to run into backlash one way or the other.

But if no one ever takes a chance, how are we ever going to get anywhere? :)

I often have people say, "You should write such and such thread about...", which is cool, but, I've also noticed very few people are willing to step up and do the work and/or put themselves out there.

I'm happy to collaborate with people over ideas, but only the ones who are also willing to take the risks and put themselves out there.

Flaming happens, no doubt about it.

But I also firmly believe... that this is another reason why God invented water. :)

Money is also no object if you want to see someone badly enough. You put away and save enough until you can spring for a plane ticket.

Kids should not be included, period. Sorry, but kids and adults don't mesh socially. It is the way it should be. There is nothing wrong with that. They are excluded from this thread. Don't worry about hurting their feelings. They'll get over being excluded from the matchmaking thread.

There appear to be 14 members with a user name that begins with the letters 'coffee', but the exact name 'coffee' is not taken.
well, now's your chance fellas. The username is open.

Ok...maybe that won't matter since I'm sort of involved with a person.

Otherwise -- on behalf of all men everywhere -- "Thanks a lot..." :p

Bossy is the adjective I prefer. It makes me think of cows. I love cows. I think they're beautiful. Especially the Jersey ones.

Over the years, I've run into people:

1. Who are unhappy with me because I tend to drop several threads here, and,

2. People who are unhappy with me I'm apparently not churning out threads fast enough, or using their ideas.

I have to gently but firmly remind people that I'm not a trained monkey here for entertainment value, believe it or not. :p Many times I write only because something's really on my mind, or because it seems like so few others are willing to step up and do it.

I naturally gravitate towards people who are willing to not only put in the work, but take on the risk as well.

Some people are blessed to be able to be on CC almost all the time--unfortunately, I'm not one of them. :( Work and my regular life are always a first priority, so I won't be able to contribute to some things as much as I'd like.

My suggestion would be to have a series of 2 or 3 threads in which people can really get to know a little bit about each other, to have things to be able to remember others by and make it actually possible to make matches, even if just for fun. Or maybe some kind of thread in which people basically say, "Hey, here I am, here's a little about me... and I'd love to be included." But a person has to give us something to work with first--we can't match you if we don't know much about you.

And then... It's on to a Re-Match. :D

However, I don't have nearly the time it would take to do all this... So... if others have suggestions... and want to get it rolling with some Get-To-Know-You threads... Please. By all means, take it away.

What other thoughts and suggestions do people have?
