the very beginning of this book, sets the subject matter in place God spoke to the " fathers" of Israel through prophets ,Moses being the first. And Has again spoken to Us all by His Son Jesus Christ. This book is of neccesaty to anyone that wishes to understand what the " covenants" or " testaments" are, where they came from, what the first means for the New and eternal and How they work together. If you are of the thinking that nothing in the Bible really applies to you, it will be of no gain. If you wish to understand really understand Why not accept the biblical writers ?
Hebrews 1:1-4 "God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they."
the rest of this chapter is establishing Christ's supremacy above all, that the Son of God is Jesus Christ, the Only. it uses purely quotes from the prophets of which there are many more saying the same things. I will share the scriptures in each chapter of Hebrews in this thread, and also will share what those scriptures are referring to when it begins talking about priesthoods and things that it is speaking of from the Law.
alot of folks find Hebrews to be difficult to really understand, i believe the Key is to understand that it is all about the two covenants and How they relate to one another. alot of what they are saying we need to understand the things they are referring to in the Law, to understand what they are saying about the New.
the first chapter Here is establishing the theme of the entire book the 2 covenants and their relation to One another. as we move through the book we learn things such as How much Greater the New is for us, How much greater the promises and provisions. and also How the first is a pattern, a shadow of what was to come. We Learn of Our Great High Priest exalted to the Heavens to sit at Gods Right hand. We have warnings and examples to look to that make references to what Happened in the Old, applied to Our covenant.
if you have any insights on this book please do Leave them, if you are willing to accept simply what is in the scriptures I have no doubt you will find great value in the book of Hebrews . You will also find an immense value in learning the first covenant Law, Only you will also understand it is not your governing testament, and at the same time is not at all de valued in regards to understanding the things Of God and How perfectly His design has been from the days of exodus to the days of the new testament and forever.
if you do find a few Moments here and there to read and consider and find any value, thank God for His Word. expressed for our learning. the Only purpose for this share, is to help some who may not grasp this book or understand what all of the references are when referring to the ot Law.
God bless i will add the scriptures as I have time, feel free to add to, or discuss, i would simply ask that we stick to what is written, what the references are that are used so often in this book and discuss those things and not simply explain why nothing applies. Or simply follow along with the scriptures and consider them. Not really an argument thread so i dont expect many replies on cc bdf but i hope to gain some insight from some of the Ones i have noticed Here with such good understanding.
