If you know about a subject that I know nothing about, yup. You're an expert. When I catch up, then we're even. I believe everyone knows more about some things than most other people. It's just weird what we decide to learn.

For instance, I picked up a bit of teddy bear history in my studies. Absolutely useless to most people, thus I'm an expert compared to most. lol

Would you like someone who knows a bit more than you about brain surgery before going under the knife, or would you prefer someone who is an expert brain surgeon?

No, it is the opposite.

A "swamp cooler" is basically a water-cooled fan blower. Water is dripped onto a cellular membrane placed in front of a fan. Water evaporates and is picked up by the air moving across / through the membrane.

Good for arid climates. Not so much for humid ones.
 
I have no expertise in any one particular subject. I know just enough to BS my way through conversations about many topics, and I know enough to be a danger to myself about many others. Truth be told, I'm rather ignorant, untalented, and pretty dumb.

I guess cooking :) I can cook a delicious food from scratch :)

And... :)

I don't know but my friends and family called me a joker :D their tummies hurt if I am around :D They told me I am good in making people laugh...and my sense of humour comes naturally :D

No, just the opposite, actually. Our humidity in northern Nevada is very low. A swamp cooler is an evaporative cooler. Water evaporates to cool the air. They are cheaper than air conditioners.

I'll worry about that when I need brain surgery. Most experts aren't in a life-or-death scenario.

We have a dehumidifier in our basement. And in winter a humidifier upstairs. Bigger than a humidifier?

That is something I don't want to be an expert about. Because then everyone else wants me to get hurt pulling them out, and I'd rather have someone else get hurt instead. lol

(I became the expert on how to move our cacti. Not good! Except I get less pain then hubby does when moving them. lol)

When I was young, I was told I had the IQ to be able to get a master's degree if I wanted one. You have the IQ to get a PhD, and you're going for it. I think you're a genuine expert at something. I simply don't know what your dissertation is to know what that something is. But I'm not buying you're dumb.

Well, you dig them out with a shovel and pick them up with gloves and throw them in the trash. If you want to come to our church Monday morning at 7:30, we can see if any more have sprung up.

The ones I am most familiar with have a 4-foot-span fan blade and move air you can feel 100 feet out in front of it...

The last time I had an intelligence test (which I don't believe is valid because of the inherent difficulties in quantifying intelligence), I scored FAR above the genius threshold. However, in matters of "common sense", social norms, and many basic fundamentals - I am either completely ignorant or I am truly "dumb" about them.

My ability in scholastics is meaningless to most people, myself included, when I lack the ability to act like a decent human being in social settings or lack the knowledge of how to do certain actions that many people take for granted as simple.

You'd scare me then.

First, I'll eat whatever someone else cooks, so I'd gain weight around you.
Second, I laugh easily, and my pain area is my stomach, so I'd hurt after laughing with you. lol
