Rocket Thrust Is Relative To Air Pressure
Considering that rocket engines don't work as efficiently in a vacuum (thrust is rated at sea level and decreases exponentially with air pressure loss) then space exploration would seem to be null and void until a new means of propulsion is discovered. Rocket engines need something to push against just like a fire hose nozzle.
Yes, you could have momentum that could carry you into space (very doubtful but possible), however, taking off from the Moon as with the Apollo missions would be an impossibility. Basically, you're looking at a one way ticket (at best). I'm no astro-physicist but I do know that you can't fit a round peg in a square hole. Any thrust coming out of a rocket engine would be accelerated (sucked) away from the nozzle as fast as it came out. Just turn on your garden hose and watch it wriggle around. Now imagine that water being sucked away as fas as it comes out. No more thrust!
Just think, if rocket engines were officially debunked, imagine all the college tuition for astro-physics that would have to be refunded!

What you're describing applies to jet engines but rocket engines do not require and air intake. They manufacture all the air they need for thrust by burning the fuel.

Do you want to believe the testimony of someone who has nothing to gain, or the testimony of a known lying, murderous, greedy establishment that has billion$ to gain/rob you of?
Again, I'm no astro-physicist, however, I do have a working nose...and the story that NA$A has been telling the world for years has a very funny odor to it.
I found the following testimony to make far more sense. It doesn't really make any difference though as the establishment will continue to come up with new discoveries to enthrall and inspire. New deep space photography, Mars landings (laughable), Chinese moon landings (highly amusing), and watch the Chinese Shenzhou setting back down on Earth sometime...it's really...
And now Hollywood (or Pinewood in England?) studios has the Matt Damon Mars movie to inspire everyone to $hell out the money so we can go to another planet...and do what exactly? Make a huge shopping mall/parking lot there too? I have a feeling Hollywood makes the movies to influence (brainwash) the public into thinking that the impossible is possible...with the right amount of $$$ invested, plus cost overruns of course. Hey, when do they ever complete a job on time and on budget?

The third, fourth, etc… all fly off into the distance trying to fill the vacuum by finding their empty corner. So no matter how much gas you produce none of it will ever change the pressure under a space ship. None it if will ever push a spaceship. To push a spaceship there must be some locally high pressure under it, which is impossible since the pressure in space is 0 everywhere.
Back the the Nozzle and the Massflow equation F=MA on earth
Think about a fire hose shooting water. A force comes directly back against the column of water shooting out. Why? Because the first drop of water has to pas through air, which is dense, causing many collisions, slowing down the drop of water. The second drop, directly behind the first, will not be slowed down by the air so it will collide with the first drop, the third drop hits the second drop and so on, the fast water coming through the hose pushing through the slower water outside causes Newton’s 3rd Law to push back on the column of water. This is why you need people holding the hose to add an unbalanced force otherwise the hose would not be able to push water through that column anymore, the water column would be diverted and the hose would flop around. It is obvious that one drop of water does not push back on the hose, you need a fast moving column.
The nozzle and the Massflow equation in space
Since the molecules leaving the combustion chamber and entering the vacuum never slow down, never collide with any outside objects, nor with each other, their force is always moving forward, away from the ship. There is no way for that force to be returned to the ship. There is no way for the force of the moving molecules to be extracted and used for propulsion. Their force is carried off into the far corners of space. This is also known as Joule Expansion. Remember that as soon as the nozzle is opened, the combustion chamber becomes part of the vacuum of space as is subject to its laws. A closed chamber is under pressure but not an open one.

But why train thousands of the best minds of a generation in a field that doesn’t exist?"

I have the utmost respect for Burt Rutan, if any private citizen will do it, he will. I'm actually surprised that the powers that be let him get as far as he did...yet another conspiracy to unravel!

What pox is saying is a load of lies and ignorance. Rocket propellant pushes against the craft itself. Ask yourself, why does a gun recoil when it's fired? Conservation of momentum. It has nothing to do with the bullet pushing against the air. You don't get more recoil by firing into a tank of water. He's a liar.
